Things That Annoy Me Thursday: Walking Into Poop

So I've been going on walks so I can fit into my pants.

I'm too cheap to buy new ones.

And I love my junk food so I have to walk.

As I'm walking, I'm listening to music so I can pretend I'm not in pain.

The other day, I walked right into dog poop.

I have been noticing a lot of poop on the trail that I walk on and I don't understand. Why aren't people picking up after their pets?

If I ever saw a person allow their dog to deficate in front of me and not pick it up, I'd say something. I'd be all, "Hey! Contrary to what you might believe, this is not a toilet for your pet." Or, if I hadn't had my caffeine yet, I'd probably snap, "Pick up the shit."

I see so many piles of poop, guys. Now I have to pay attention, which annoys me, because I like to zone out with my music so I don't feel the burning sensation in my thighs or the huge drops of sweat dripping off my forehead.

Please! If you have a dog, always clean up the poop.

  1. You'd hate it in Croatia, people don't pick up after their dogs at all. And neighbor's dog likes to do his business right in front of our gates. Imagine the fun. Oh yeah, we did complain, but it fell on deaf ears.

  2. That is just gross! I found poop in our front yard that was not from our dog. Yuck.

  3. I saw a lady once not picking up after her dog so I said "Oh, did you forget a bag? I might have one in my car..." Passive aggressive? Yes. Effective? Yes.

  4. I don't know who wouldn't be annoyed by this! We've had the poop a lot on the sidewalks. It sucks!

  5. It drives me crazy!! There are some really great dog walkers in our neighborhood and some that NEVER clean up after their dogs - I'm not friends with the 2nd group because I don't have a dog so I shouldn't have to worry about stepping in dog poop in my own yard!!!

  6. oh my goodness, I seriously LOVE this post!!!! I always have doggie bags with me, and if I don't, thankfully I have a little dog so a giant leave will work as well. It annoys the crap (hahahaha, no pun intended) out of me when people don't pick up after their dogs either

  7. Ugh! That is one of my pet peeves too. Pun totally intended. People should always pick up after their pets. I always did and she was a labrador retriever. Talk about big poop.

  8. I never understood why people left it. I mean seriously, everyone knows stepping in shit sucks. Don't do that to someone without just cause.

  9. I don't get why people don't pick up the poop.

  10. Some people actually think leaving poop is good for the earth, like natural fertilizer or something. When actually, it's the opposite. It's awful for the earth. And our shoes, obviously. As a dog owner, I always have poop bags. And if I didn't, I'd go home and get one. Then walk back to the area to pick it up. I especially hate PILES of a large dog's poop. I mean, come on people.

  11. I JUST went through this! In a parking lot. When I exited the car there was nothing there (of this, I am positive) but upon returning to the car I stepped in it and into my car before I realized. Someone let their dog poop RIGHT IN FRONT of the driver's side door. I was furious.

  12. I don't understand what people don't get about this. If it's not on your property, MOVE IT AS SOON AS IT HITS THE GROUND!

  13. Can we talk about horse poop? On our walking trails, horses are allowed, off to the side. Not picking up dog poop is strictly forbidden, but nobody ever picks up horse poop - and it's huge!!! Why is that ok?

  14. You want to hear something totally immature? Our next door neighbor's dog "Scruffy" would poop all over our yard. And one day my parents had had it. My mom put the dog poop onto a plate with a knife and fork and left it on their doorstep.
    True story.

  15. Pet owners have to pick up their dog shit here in Aus too, but unless they are in an area that has signs to say so, they don't care. I had a person let their dog shit in front of my house every time he walked it. Ugh, what a dick!

  16. same story here - but one of my kids stepped in it. ugh.
I mean really? right smack in the middle of the trail. I don't expect you to follow a pooping pooch into the woods or a field - but if it's Right On The Trail??!! come on.

  17. Stepping in dog poop is so disgusting! I get all sorts of irritated if I see it on any walking trails. They make leashes with handy dandy poop bags attached, just saying.

  18. As a dog owner I always pick up (if I can, they do occasionally vanish but in that case it is well off the path and people shouldn't really be walking there anyway) and always have a pocket full of poo bags. If ever I see someone who is not scooping that poop I offer them one of my bags. I like the subtle approach!

  19. I always pick up. And if I forgot to bring a bag with me, I'll go back and pick it up afterwards. I really hate it when neighbors allow their dog to poop in MY yard. I'm tempted to get one of those "Do Not Poop" signs for my front yard, but then I'd be a hypocrite because I do have two little dogs myself that CAN poop in my front yard because well they are MY dogs and it's MY grass and that's how it works. I don't want to pick up other people's crap because you don't know if they have worms or parvo or something that you could potentially pick up and transfer to your own babies. Nuh huh.
