6 Things I Want For Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is Saturday.

I'm doing nothing, because Tom is deployed. I'll hang out with my kids and hope they don't trash the house.

1. A Cook

You guys know I hate to cook. I would LOVE to have a cook who knew what he or she was doing.

2. A Panic Room

Not to hide from burglars--but to hide from my kids. If they won't stop fighting and are just being annoying, I'd have a place to take off to.

3. Flowers

I do like getting flowers. Some people don't think they count since it's expected on Valentine's Day, but I don't agree. I love flowers whenever I can get them. Sometimes I forget to water the poor things, but for the first few days they look fabulous in my kitchen.

4. Dinner

If I can't have a cook, will someone please make me dinner? But Tom is deployed so he can't. Natalie would give me a very messy peanut butter and jelly sandwich. I'll probably order pizza. With cinnamon sticks.

5. New books

Even though I've run out of space for new books, I can't quit buying them. I try to stick to the library, but sometimes I can't help myself.

6. My husband

I wish he could come home. Instead I'll settle for a Facetime date if the Internet over there cooperates.

You might be wondering why I didn't mention chocolate because I've made it known on my blog and all over my social media that I adore chocolate. Here's the thing: I'm cheap, so I buy chocolate 50% off the day after Valentine's Day. I wait. BUT. Since Tom knew he was deploying and since the stores put out the next holiday stuff even when the current one hasn't even happened yet, Tom was able to purchase some chocolates for me with instructions NOT to eat them before Valentine's Day. I succeeded, but only because I've been stuffing my face with Girl Scout cookies.

So, anyway, what do you want? Do you have fun plans? I'm jealous if you're going to The Melting Pot. I love it there.

Happy Valentine's Day!

  1. That's awesome that you have a stash of chocolate to eat! What a good idea!! Also, I'm with you - the candy sales the day after Valentine's Day and Easter are the best!!! Love it!

  3. Books are my love language.

My husband is out of town(not deployed, obviously, but with his dad who had to have quadruple bypass surgery this week, so it's still pretty dang sucky) so the kids and I will probably order a pizza. And then go to Target on Sunday for the sale chocolates!

  4. My husband works and I'm babysitting a friend's kids for the morning, so that'll be super exciting! I think we're going to have taco night for when Ken gets home.

  5. I don't want to go out to eat, because it's going to be crazy, but I would like to go see a movie that is not animated. My parents have agreed to watch the kids, so now I just have to figure out if there is anything playing that we might enjoy!

  6. I hear ya on the panic room idea. My kids scream at each other and I just want to hide in the bathroom with earplugs. LOL!
I am with you on the after v-day chocolate sales. Being that it's on a Saturday this year and Sunday is Target day, I expect some good deals!
We're going to watch Alexander.... this weekend with the kids. It's out on DVD. :)

  7. hahahaha! This list is awesome.

The only thing I want for Valentine's Day is to not celebrate it. I can't stand it.

  8. I think we are staying in and not really doing anything. I'm not a big fan and don't mind skipping the whole commercial holiday:)

  13. What an adorable photo of your daughter! A cook would be wonderful! No need to share space with the too lovey dovey couples. No need to pay so much for food. I want macarons for Valentine's Day :) .

  16. Awww I love your list. Keep your head up. Eat more cookies. Keep being brave.

I hate V-Day. I am hosting another kid overnight so I can drown myself in kiddo activities and completely avoid the entire holiday.
