Day Two Of Disney World: Magic Kingdom

My alarm went off at an ungodly hour.

I groaned.

But then I remembered: we were at Disney World!

We had arrived the night before and were all ready to go to our first park. Of course it had to be Magic Kingdom. Natalie had to see her castle. (See Mom gripping her coffee? She also needs her caffeine. I don't drink coffee, but I do guzzle Diet Coke for my caffeine.)

Another photographer asked the kids if they wanted to pretend Tinkerbell was in their hands. Tommy was like, "What?" and Natalie was like, "Yes!" She held her hand out and gasped. Tommy said, "There's nothing there though. I'm confused."

I told everyone I was leading them to Enchanted Tales With Belle first. I told everyone not to worry, I knew where I was going.

Let me point out now that I am awful with directions. I cannot read maps. My mother is slightly better, but only slightly, so if you were at Disney World last week and saw two women peering at the map with confusion, it might have been us. Hi.

I made a wrong turn. I ended up in a different area of the park. Oops.

We eventually found it.

The first time we did this in 2013, Natalie was Maurice.

This time she as Mrs. Potts.

It's a fun little interactive show. Each kid gets a photo with Belle afterwards. This Belle does not do autographs. It would simply take too much time.

We went on Ariel's ride next and then met her:

Natalie told her that her Daddy "likes redheads." She's done this before. Each time the character is like, "Oh! Lovely!"

We met another redhead:

When you meet Merida, you can also shoot a bow and arrow:

We had a Fast Pass for Space Mountain. I recommend getting a Fast Pass for this ride because it always seems to have a long wait.

Where am I? Well. I'm a chicken. I do not like roller coasters. I used to, before I had kids. I think they messed up my stomach, because now I cannot handle the drops. It feels like my insides are going up into my throat, and I worry I might vomit. So I do not go on roller coasters with drops anymore. I was a polite infant when I was inside my mother's uterus and I did NOT mess up her stomach, so she's able to do rides like this. Which I appreciate.

We had lunch at the Pinocchio Village Haus. I got a flatbread pizza. (To see better photos and descriptions of food, go here.)

We also stopped in at Gaston's Tavern and tried Lefou's Brew and a chocolate croissant. See, with all the walking you do, it's perfectly acceptable to stuff your face. Lefou's Brew is this fruity drink with marshmallow topping. Sounds odd, but it's fantastic. You can use a snack credit on either item.

We also met Cinderella and Rapunzel. I recommend a Fast Pass for them if you want to go during the day. Their times were always ranging between 50-80 minutes. In the evenings, however, it dropped to 20. You do meet them both.

We managed to catch the Festival of Fantasy parade.

These are just two of the floats we saw. There were many more with other Disney characters.

We had reservations at Be Our Guest for dinner. You can book your reservations 6 months before you go to Disney World, and I recommend this. As we waited for our buzzer to go off at Be Our Guest, so many people kept coming up hoping to get reservations for that day. The lady politely explained that the reservations go fast and that it was best to do it 6 months in advance. I'm glad I did.

However, as we waited, Natalie was like, "I'm hot. My feet hurt. I'm hungry. My feet hurt."

She was ignored.

We were let in a few minutes later, and the rooms are beautiful. To see better pictures, go here.

I had to try the French Onion Soup. The cheese on top? Amazing.

I ordered the garlic butter steak for my main course:

Tommy and my Mom got this puff pastry thing with shrimp. I do not like seafood. It makes me gag. But they love seafood, so they were happy:

Natalie orders from the Kid Menu and got the mac and cheese.

She said it was good but she mainly ate the fries. She takes after me in that sense: fries excite us.

And dessert? The grey stuff. Duh. (You know the song in Beauty and the Beast? "Try the grey stuff, it's delicious, don't believe me, ask the dishes!")

Yes, the grey stuff IS delicious. The brownie it was covering? Was hard. So I just ate the grey stuff.

If the grey stuff frightens you as it did my son, there are other dessert options. He went for the chocolate cupcake. There was also a strawberry one that made me drool.

When you are finished eating, you get to meet the Beast! The Beast was excited to see Natalie dressed in a Belle outfit and began to dance with her:

Would I recommend Be Our Guest? Yes! Go! I went for lunch in 2013 and was impressed then too. They are also open for breakfast reservations.

In the evening, there is an electric parade, castle show, and fireworks. I had a Fast Pass to sit in the garden area. I would not waste a Fast Pass on this again. It is a pretty area, but everyone stands, so if you don't stand you won't see a thing. I think the Fast Pass should be an area where everyone remains SEATED. Otherwise, what's the point?

There are usually two options for the electric parade. If you can, go to the 11 one. Less people.

It was a full day. Our feet hurt. Natalie kept trying to climb up me so I'd carry her. I refused. I could barely move my own legs.

Still. It was a fun day, and we were ready for our adventures at Hollywood Studios!

  7. I didn't do any research before our WDW trip. That was a big mistake, but I didn't really have much say in the trip anyway. If we get to go again, I'm going to bother you for advice!

  8. So glad it was a great trip with awesome pictures! As a local, the reservations 6 months out, drives me crazy, but it's a good offering for guests. (Plus, I really shouldn't complain since I can visit anytime and I'm just really bad at planning :))

  11. Oh girl - Disney World food can be the most fattening in the world and it doesn't matter. You walk that stuff off! We were there for 13 hours. It was heavy exercise.
I would never go on Space Mountain!!

  14. This makes me miss WDW so much! You should post your blog links about your trip on the Disney Dorks group on FB. You give a lot of good tips. LOL about the gray stuff. :) I can't do roller coasters either and that was long before having kids! I lost my ability to stomach them when I was 25.

  15. Fun, fun, fun. There's just nothing quite like Disney exhaustion! We got very lucky and were able to get a lunch table at Be Our Guest without a reservation - but I agree, I don't recommend taking your chances! LOVE the picture of your daughter dancing with the Beast!
