How To Make Incredibly Easy Strawberry Shortcake

I am not a fan of cooking. Or baking. Or doing anything in the kitchen. But I have to do it. So I look for easy things to make so I don't lose my mind. One of our favorites is a simple strawberry shortcake dessert. When I say simple, I mean it. I can't stand recipes that say they are simple and have like 10 ingredients and 15 steps. This is not simple.

But my recipe is.

You'll need strawberries, sugar, pound cake, and whipped cream. See? I'm not even having you MAKE your own pound cake. I mean, you can. But if you're like me, you want EASY. And easy means buying pound cake that is ready to go.

Then you'll cut the strawberries.

Put the strawberries in a bowl and fill with enough water to cover the strawberries.

Then you add 1/2 cup of sugar. If you used two cases of strawberries, make it a cup. Really, put as much sugar as you want. Taste test. 1/2 cup is usually enough for 1 package. Stir.

Stick the strawberries in the fridge for at least an hour.

Then prepare the strawberry shortcake! Cut the pound cake. Top with strawberries. I like adding the sugar water on top of my pound cake. Complete with whipped cream, unless you're weird like my husband and son and do not like whipped cream.

And that's it! See? Simple! I even served mine in paper bowls so I wouldn't have to do dishes.

Do you prefer easy recipes or do you like cooking and/or baking?

Lol, I love your take on this dessert though - it looks simple and fun, and you could even make it "fancy" by making separate little mini ones with one cube of cake, one berry, a drizzle of juice, and a tiny squirt of cream. Oooh, or you could do skewers! Yum!
