8 Unique and Affordable Gifts For Mother's Day

What are you hoping for on Mother's Day? I always tell my husband that I'm good with books and chocolate. I'm really not picky. And I'm cheap, so I wouldn't want him to go out and spend tons of money. I'd rather use the money towards home repairs.

For my own mother, I tend to do photo gifts, flowers, or garden items. Oh, and chocolates. Plus a card. I hit on some ideas last week in my How To Show Mom You Care post. We will be spending Mother's Day together.

If you're looking for something unique, I have some AFFORDABLE ideas. (Everything is under $50.)

1. Victoria Season One DVD set.

I love shows on PBS. I'm sure you've seen Downton Abbey and Call The Midwife. Those air on PBS and so does Victoria. It's about Queen Victoria, and she was a rather amazing lady. I've seen the series and loved it! One of my favorite parts was when Victoria started hopping up and down after sex because she was told it could prevent a pregnancy. (It didn't.) If the mother in your life enjoys shows like this, pick it up at the Shop PBS store.

2. A fun planter.

I picked this up from Kohls. They had tons of various planters. My mom loves to plant stuff. I, unfortunately, have a black thumb and can't grow a thing.

3. Chocolates!

Okay, okay, it's not unique, but you can never go wrong with chocolate. Obviously you can pick up chocolates anywhere.

4. A book purse!

For the woman that loves to read, this is perfect. I actually got it for Christmas, and I love it. I'm always reading, so it's perfect. You can pick it up at Think Geek.

5. A hilarious sign.

For the mother with a sense of humor, this is perfect. I might have to pick this up for myself because it amuses me so much. You can buy it on Etsy from Edisonwood.

6. A personalized bookmark.

Again, if you have a mom who loves to read, this bookmark is the way to go. You can buy this from the Etsy shop RobertaValle.

7. A bag of unicorn farts.

If you want Mom to laugh, pick this up. It looks like it's just cotton candy, but the bag will get some laughs. Unless you come from a family who doesn't talk about farts. I was friends with someone like that and it was confusing to me. You can buy it on Amazon.

8. Mom & Me shirts.

You can pick up these shirts from The Children's Place.

What are you getting your mom? And if you are a mom, what are you hoping to get?
