Why You MUST See 12 Strong + Giveaway

This post is in partnership with Warner Bros. Pictures.

I've always been a fan of military movies and shows. They always remind me how proud I am to be part of this community. This military life is the only one I've ever known. I had a military mom:

And I married a military man:

I saw a preview of the movie 12 Strong and knew it would be one I'd want to watch with my husband. We tend to watch the military films together. I usually end up in tears and my husband is stoic and matter-of-fact and is all, "That's war, sweetheart."

Here are details about the film:

“12 Strong” is set in the harrowing days following 9/11 when a U.S. Special
Forces team, led by their new Captain, Mitch Nelson (Chris Hemsworth), is
chosen to be the first U.S. troops sent into Afghanistan for an extremely
dangerous mission. There, in the rugged mountains, they must convince
Northern Alliance General Dostum (Navid Negahban) to join forces with them
to fight their common adversary: the Taliban and their Al Qaeda allies. In
addition to overcoming mutual distrust and a vast cultural divide, the
Americans—accustomed to state-of-the-art warfare—must adopt the rudimentary tactics of the Afghani horse soldiers. But despite their uneasy bond, the
new allies face overwhelming odds: outnumbered and outgunned by a ruthless
enemy that does not take prisoners.

It's directed by Jerry Bruckheimer, who also did Black Hawk Down, one of my husband's favorite movies.

Please note: 12 Strong is rated R for war violence and language.

Here are reason's why you should go see 12 Strong:

1. It promotes teamwork. When you're on a team, you have to work together. If you don't, things fall apart and people get killed. I always love to see a military team band together.

2. It shows the family life of military members. You'll see that it's not always easy being married to a military member. They'll suddenly have to go. And then you worry about them when they do go.

3. There's battles. If you have a husband like mine who will only sit through movies where there's weapons involved, well, this is the movie for them. I tend to cover my eyes at times, only because if I watch people get shot, I'll most likely tear up.

4. Chris Hemsworth is in it. I mean. He's easy on the eyes, let's be honest.

5. It reminds you that we should always support our military men and women, plus their families. They go through a lot. We need to always be there for them and stop taking our freedom for granted.

  4. Wow this sounds like a powerful story that I will definitely appreciate. I can't imagine what is like to be a member of the military, or a part of a military family. It certainly is not an easy life to live but we are all grateful for the sacrifices service(wo)men and their family make on a daily basis. Thank you for sharing this. Thank you to your mom and husband for serving. And thank you to all those who support them.
