The Solo Menu At Denny's Review

"We have to go to Denny's! They have special Star Wars cups and food!" I told my husband Tom.

He gave me a funny look. "How old are you again?"

I grabbed his t-shirt collar. "Star Wars cups. And food."

"Um. Okay? I guess we'll go to Denny's."

Denny's has been advertising a special menu in anticipation for the new Solo movie coming out. I should have gone when they first started.

Why?

Well, we get to Denny's, sit down, and I was like, "I'd like one of the Star Wars cups. The Chewbacca one, if possible, but I'll take any of them--"

"We're out," the waitress cut me off unapologetically.

It reminded me of that scene in Santa Clause, where Scott Calvin wants Egg Nog, and that waitress at Denny's was all, "We're out," all deadpan.

I blinked at the waitress. How could they be out?

"There's not one left in the back?" I tried again.

She shook her head. Sighed. I probably wasn't the first customer to ask. But seriously. Who took all the cups? Probably the die hard Star Wars fans. They probably took them all, the jerks. All I wanted was one.

I ordered a Diet Cherry Coke which arrived in a plain boring glass.

I checked over the special Solo menu.

I decided on this:

My son went with this without the cheese, because he cannot take cheese on his burgers. It's a sensory thing. He says the cheese gets stuck in his teeth.

There was also a healthy option available with egg whites, but who wants that? Plus a skillet. (Check out Denny's for the full menu.)

My breakfast came, and the pancakes looked good.

Honestly, the strawberry sauce was plenty, even though they also came with a warm citrus sauce. I added some, but I preferred just the strawberry.

I also got eggs, hash browns, and bacon. I am not one of those dainty women eaters who are all, "Yes, I just eat kale, turmeric, matcha and non-dairy stuff." When I eat, I EAT.

The waitress forgot my pop rocks, and brought them over afterwards. I decided to try a small amount, and my mouth exploded.

"How is it?" Tom asked as I attempted to chew.

"Intense," I replied, and a Pop Rock shot out of my mouth and bounced off Tom's arm.

"Gross," he said, wiping it off as though I were diseased.

I did not have anymore Pop Rocks. I passed them to Natalie, who put a spoonful in her mouth.

"Wow," she said. "This is crazy." Her words were emphasized by pops. She offered some to Tommy. who swiftly shook his head.

By the way, he liked his burger. He's a huge fan of spicy foods. I forgot to take a photo of the burger when it arrived because I was marveling over my pancakes. Sorry.

Would I get my pancakes again? Yes.

But I'd decline the Pop Rocks.

Will you be seeing the new Solo movie?

We will! If anything, Chewbacca is in it, which is a win for us. I get compliments when I wear my Chewbacca coat because who doesn't like Chewbacca?

Also, did you take all the Star Wars cups?

  5. We don't have a Denny's close to us. I think the closest one is like an hour away, but we ALWAYS stop at one when we travel. Noms.

  7. Hubby just returned from a weekend in Vegas and when I asked him where he ate, he raved about the Denny's. Vegas? Denny's? He loved it. He hadn't been to Denny's in ages. I asked if he picked up some of those Solo cups for the kids but he said they were sold out.
