I'll be honest: it's not my favorite thing. But I'll go because my daughter loves it. She's always gotten a thrill out of haunted houses and people trying to frighten her.
This year we're going to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Orlando for the first time. For those who don't know, it's an event held at Universal Studios on select nights. There are haunted houses and scare zones all throughout the park. They recommend kids 13 and younger NOT attend, but well, they haven't met Natalie yet.
We picked the right Halloween Horror Nights to go to, because this is rumored to be the best one in years.
So why is my daughter excited to go to Halloween Horror Nights?
1. She loves scary things. Remember she was a clown last year? And not a funny one.
2. She's braver than I am and welcomes the scare actors coming at her. We go to Howl-O-Scream in SeaWorld and this lady told Natalie, "I'm going to steal your soul," and Natalie answered boldly, "Not if I steal yours first."
3. She cannot wait for the Stranger Things house! She's a huge fan of the Netflix show. She wants to see a Demogorgon.
4. She thinks it's funny to terrify me. Remember when she pretended she was possessed when we went to the Mansfield State Reformatory? She'll probably scare me many times during Halloween Horror Nights. Or she'll tell the Scare Actors, "Stop coming after me. My Mom is the one who screams!"
5. She's excited to show that she's not a scared kid. Many people might look at her and think, "Oh, she's an easy scare," but nope.
Behold her costume for this Halloween.
Have you ever been to Halloween Horror Nights?
This sounds like so much fun!!! We probably won't head there for a while (since we have a two year old), but maybe a date night! Thanks for sharing this.
ReplyDeleteI have been I think, a long time ago. It was in a house and super scary but so much fun at the same time! I get why she is so excited!
ReplyDeleteIt looks great. I love Helloween. Here in the netherlands they only celebrate it a little bit. I really hope to celebrate helloween in America once. Totally as it should be in the American way. I wish your daughter a very nice Helloween this year.
ReplyDeleteSounds very fun for Halloween. But first pic was genuinely scary for me. Not Kidding. I always like that people decorate home for Halloween Fourth image looks like straight out of horror movie. No Offense.
ReplyDeleteHa-ha!I think i already love your daughter's personality! For someone who enjoys too much horror like me, we'd make a good match during Halloween. Sure she'll have fun!
ReplyDeleteI used to love going to that kind of stuff, but the older I get the less I Like it!
ReplyDeleteWe dont really have Halloween here but it is so interesting to see people in the States celebrating this occasion in a very fun way. I really love her costume and her little bike.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to a Halloween horror night in years. I'm not into things that go bump in the night or things that jump out at me. My son loves that kind of stuff and I have nightmares. Love your daughter's costume!
ReplyDeleteI don't do Haunted Houses and if I did I wouldn't ever sleep again. Although my husband enjoys them and I am sure as my son gets older he would like to go to one. As he want's to be just like his dad. So that is the day you will find me at home watching a movie while they boond over all things scary.
ReplyDeleteI have some friends that love to go to different Halloween horror houses. One goes along but always stays outside and waits for everyone to get done. I'm like her I'll just wait for everyone else.
ReplyDeleteI know a lot of people who think this is fun, but not me! I think it's cool that people enjoy them but I surely don't get it! :)
ReplyDeleteI take the kids but I don't dare venture in. I am definitely not a horror fan. I love dressing up for Halloween and have been known to be a great zombie princess or wicked witch but haunted houses... nope, not me.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you. I don't do scary. My husband thinks it is funny but I happily wait in the car for them to go through haunted houses.
ReplyDeleteI hope your daughter has the most awesome time celebrating Halloween! It always amazes me all the different things you do over there!
ReplyDeleteWe don’t celebrate Halloween in our house. I don’t mind watching a scary movie every once in a while, but I would rather watch a romance. :)
ReplyDeleteLove this - my kids LOVE to scare me too! (It's slightly annoying ☺)I SO wish I could get down to Orlando to visit Halloween Horror Nights, but school schedules are so busy in October. Have fun!
ReplyDeleteI've never been but my hubby is a huge fan of scary movies and shows and I'm sure he would go crazy for it. I, on the other hand, prefer happy, non-scary thoughts. :p
ReplyDeleteMy boys would get along with your daughter. They too like scary things and zombies are the best.
ReplyDeleteOh wow, more power to her. I am the worst when it comes to anything scary fro movies, to stories anything that will make be feel any fear is out of bounds. I don't even know how people do it.
ReplyDeleteOmg your daughter is very brave. I actually just got over my fear of haunted houses and going to Halloween horror nights last year and I am 27 LOL. I used to have panic attacks and break down. Now I am way better. I’ve come along way.
ReplyDeleteIt's funny. My 4 year old daughter would probably be more up for this than my 8 year old son. I know my 23 year old daughter would. That tshirt "They see my rolling" is awesome.
ReplyDeleteI have never liked Halloween and don't really get the fun part about the whole affair but that is what is beautiful about life- personal choices.. We each get to make our own choices haha. I hope your daughter will have lots of fun
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like so much fun!! I always loved dressing up as a kid, the scarier the better!!
ReplyDeleteGeez, you have such a brave little girl there :) I'm petrified of horror and don't like Halloween for that reason :)
ReplyDeleteMy kids love it too. I do not know where they get it from!
ReplyDeleteThe photos of her are too cute... I've never been to Halloween Horror Nights. It sounds like a lot of fun though.
ReplyDeleteSuper creepy! I love that she gets into it. My kids have a few years before they get into the scary stuff.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter is also into scary stuff, but I'm not. It's just not really my thing.
ReplyDeleteHalloween Horror nights are so much fun but still scary! My kids used to go when they were younger and loved it. I haven't been in a few years...I get most of my "horror" on the regular news these days LOL
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to Halloween Horror Nights in nearly 15 years. I used to love going to it with my sister. I am SUCH a chicken. I could never open my eyes in the haunted house and the scare-actors would make me scream. Your daughter is so brave. Also...I think her clown Halloween costume was absolutely hysterical. That is one cool kid.
ReplyDeleteThis some how reminds me of the movie IT with the circus clown like scaryface in one of the pictures. Lol Halloween sure knows to crank up some fun looks!
ReplyDeleteI am impressed that she wants to go. My oldest daughter would be to scared. My youngest (she is four!) is definitely leaning towards being a fan of the scary stuff.
ReplyDeleteI'd be excited too if I were going to see a lot of my faves! I think it's a fun event if your child is interested in going! It's definitely worth it and it's perfect for celebrating Halloween!
ReplyDeleteHalloween is my least favorite holiday but my kids love it of course. For the past couple of years, my kids are just making their own costumes.
ReplyDeleteI like horror movies but have never been to a halloween horror nights before. I might make it a point to go this year with my kids.
ReplyDeleteAh yes, I remember that she loves horror. I had no idea Universal had Fright Nights. It sounds extremely fun (for the horror junkie)! Hope she enjoyed Fright Fest too.
ReplyDeleteI think we need to go one day! Around here, and probably near you, Six Flags does Fright Nights. I think my kids are too young for it, though! Des definitely is..
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like so much fun! It's great that she can really enjoy the day and preparation without getting scared. I use to be like that when I was younger too. It's great how much she can enjoy the holiday! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteIt seems that your daughter has so much fun during Halloween celebrations. These photos say it all!
ReplyDeleteI would have nightmares if I went to Haunted Houses. I can't stand things jumping out at me. LOL Your daughter is a brave soul!
ReplyDeleteOkay your daughter is AWESOME. I've always loved horror as well - when I was 8 I was first introduced to Poltergeist and it's still one of my favorite movies!
ReplyDeleteIt is so great they have a scary event for you and the kids to enjoy. I am a big fan of Halloween but this seems better than the neighborhood trick or treating.
ReplyDeleteMy kids always loved the scary stuff while I wasn't much a fan. I get creeped out by a corn maze I can't imagine having people jumping out at me. I'd probably have a heart attack! (Rena)
ReplyDeleteEnjoy! Halloween is more of a Boo at the Zoo (kiddie fun) for me than a thriller but hey, that's just me. I know your daughter is gonna have so much fun!
ReplyDeleteLOL, I HATE those things! I scare easily and with a heart that is beating so hard I can't catch my breath. No thanks. It does crack me up that your daughter loves it!
ReplyDeleteSome kids love scary things and YOU know your child best! Alas I have a lot of kids and none of them acquired my love of fictional horror. I hope you guys have a blast!
ReplyDeleteOh wow, I haven’t thought about Halloween Horror nights in years! I went there when I was a teenager and was frightened out of my mind and now I try to avoid those places. She sounds like a brave girl!
ReplyDeleteI haven't been to Halloween Horror Nights in quite sometime. I have seen some of the sneak peaks for this year and it looks like a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteI think she has that age when Halloween horror nights are so excited!
ReplyDeleteShe really is brave! I do not have the guts to go to a scary place or events. lol!
ReplyDeleteMy nieces would absolutely adore this kind of thing too. They love Halloween and this is so right up their alley!
ReplyDeleteLooks like she is not afraid of anything, that is great. Yes we too visit Sea world Halloween programme every year.
ReplyDeleteYour daughter is awesome! I love to attend events like these, but my hubby does not. Here's hoping my kids are into it when they get a little older!
ReplyDeleteMy kids are not quite ready to visit any of those scary places! Your daughter is so brave! I think it's a fun way to celebrate Halloween!
ReplyDeleteI know I have commented on this before, but I absolutely love the zest for Halloween that Natalie has!
ReplyDeleteYes! Kids are very excited on Halloween. I can't believe that your daughter loves scary things because kids are definitely fearful. Your daughter is so brave!
ReplyDeleteAwe this so fun and glad you're daughter is so excited for Halloween. I love Halloween and I always enjoy that yearly holiday.
ReplyDeleteWhat a brave girl.. I like her already. We dont celebrate Halloween but we do, it will be my favorite holiday. Cant stop laughing over this. "I'm going to steal your soul," and Natalie answered boldly, "Not if I steal yours first."
ReplyDeleteToo spooky for me. My son is still pretty little so he still getting use to Halloween at all. I hope you and your daughter have lots of fun.
