When You (And Your Kids) Aren't Morning People

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Tyson Foods, Inc. The opinions and text are all mine. #JimmyDeanRollupsatHEB #CollectiveBias

Mornings.

Some people love them. Others? Well. My kids aren't morning people. I am not a morning person. So making sure they get out the door on time for school isn't always easy. Delicious food helps. We all love to eat and I'm all about finding fast and quick breakfasts like these Jimmy Dean® Biscuit Roll-Ups found at H-E-B. Check out this offer to save $1.50 off 1 product valid through 10/13.

I've also come up with ways to ease the pain of waking up before the sunrise.

1. Have the outfit picked out the night before. Granted, my son doesn't really have to do this because he's a boy, and he pulls on whatever. My daughter? Well. It's imperative. Otherwise she'll start her, "I have nothing to wear!" rant, and I'm sorry, I can't listen to that before 7 AM. I just can't. Plus, it's a lie, she has PLENTY to wear. She has more clothes than I do. So now she choses her outfit the night before and let me tell you, mornings are slightly smoother.

2. Prepare the backpack! Seriously, as soon as my kids get home, I tell them to go through it. Give me papers to sign. Do the homework. Toss away things they do not need so they don't resemble a trashcan cartoon character. I do this because there have been times where my kid is like, "Oh, you need to sign this," and I'm like, "What is it?" and they tell me it's a permission slip. Most of the time it is, but once it was because of a poor grade. Again, I am NOT a morning person so I scribbled my signature, but then I when I saw the progress report I was like, "!!" and realized what had happened.

3. Set the alarms! This is in case someone hits the snooze button. Then the other person can be like, "GET UP!" It's mostly me doing this to my kids. My son will roll over and go back to sleep. So will my daughter. So I go crashing in there going, "Why is no one getting ready?" and I'm called the crazy one.

Also have alarms set letting the kid know how much time they have left until they have to leave. My son doesn't need this as much. My tween daughter does. Otherwise she'll stay in the bathroom doing her hair for like 30 minutes. But when her alarm goes off, it warns her, oh, I've got to finish straightening my hair and eat breakfast.

4. Also, as I mentioned before, have tasty food available! I need something fast, so I decided to try the Jimmy Dean® Biscuit Roll-Ups and I'm glad I did. They are ready in 60 seconds, so if we are running late, I don't have to wait forever for them to cook. They have 10g of protein per serving, which is another win. Check the packaging for full nutritional information. Also, my kids will eat them.

You can find them in the frozen section of H-E-B:

Sometimes my kids can be difficult and picky, but these are a hit. My son is all about the sausage, egg, and cheese flavor while my daughter gobbled down the egg, ham, and cheese Jimmy Dean® Biscuit Roll-UpsHeck, they are so easy to make that my kids can make them on their own.

So remember: you might not be a morning person. And neither are your kids. But there are ways to make life easier. And if all else fails, there's good food.

How do you make mornings easier?

And I can get so much done before anyone else wakes up - so I can help everyone else knowing that a lot of what I need to do for me is DONE!

  11. I'm a night person. So are my kids. It's difficult to get the in bed at a decent hour, and getting them in bed is only half the battle. Even when in bed, they won't go to sleep. Then when it's time to get up in the morning they are complaining about being tired and wanting to sleep more. We prepare everything the night before as well. And I always make sure they eat a hot breakfast. Those biscuit roll ups would be great! I'll have to try the.

  20. Having kids turned me into being a morning person. I get up 2 hours before them to mentally prepare myself and the night before we make sure backpacks are done and clothes/shoes have been laid out to make their morning routines run a little smoother.
