Quarantine Fun: Letting Teens Try On Prom Dresses

Since we're stuck at home, Natalie has gotten bored when she finally puts down her phone. So she asked to go through my closet, and made a lot of disparaging noises. "You wear this?" or "What on earth?" But then, "ooooo. This is pretty."

She found my prom dress. From high school.

She asked if she could try it on. I said she could.

It fits!

"I need bigger boobs though," Natalie said.

"But not so much bigger. I'm only like 34 A," I answered.

"I'm not even THAT," Natalie sighed.

"Maybe one day."

The dress has held up well. I had ordered it online while in high school. We lived in Belgium at the time because my mom was in the Air Force so there weren't a lot of shopping options. I was worried the dress wouldn't fit, but it did!

Now my daughter is wearing the dress. She says she "might" wear it to her prom. But the kid loves to shop, so I doubt it.

Still, at least she was able to try the dress on.

And guess what dear reader? I married my prom date.

  1. Oh my gosh this is an ADORABLE idea! I honestly don't think I have my prom dress anymore - I know it was at my parents' house but they've moved a few times and probably got rid of it. So sad!

  2. We did this several years ago with my niece. She tried on all my prom dresses from the 1989, 1990, 1991 and my sisters from 1981 and 1982. We had a great time and took lots of pictures.
