Exploring Galaxy's Edge In Hollywood Studios

Oh gosh, I was excited to see the Millennium Falcon. I had been a fan of Star Wars for years. As a teen, I admit, I didn't care for the movies. My friends would watch and I'd roll my eyes. But as an adult, I gave the movies another chance and was hooked. Maybe it was the idea that someone evil could turn good in the end. Or maybe I just loved Chewbacca.

All I knew was that I couldn't wait to see Galaxy's Edge at Hollywood Studios. It was still under construction the last time I had gone to Walt Disney World but finally, FINALLY it was open. Here's the backstory on Galaxy's Edge: you're on a Black Spire Outpost on the Planet Batuu. Cast Members will tell you "Bright Suns" which means hello. It's like you're in a whole other world.

And yes, the Millennium Falcon was pretty awesome.

It's neat inside:

Yup, it's a ride, too called Smuggler's Run. You get to drive it. We crashed a lot. We let the kids be the pilots.

Hungry? There are several options. We decided on Docking Bay 7 where we could pick up galactic grub.

It's pretty cool inside.

I tried Smoked Kaadu Pork Ribs. It had a blueberry glaze to it, and it worked. The ribs were tender Weirdly it comes with a corn blueberry muffin, but that also works. I'd get it again!

Tommy got the Endorian Fried Chicken Yip Yip. It's fun to say. He enjoyed it.

Natalie got the Batuuan Beef Pot Roast. I tried it a bite and it was tender and flavorful. She said it was good.

To check out the menu, click here. I love all the fun names for the food and drinks.

Occasionally Stormtroopers come out. They will shout at you. Kylo Ren also comes out. He also will shout at you.

There's so much to see in Galaxy's Edge. I brought Steve, and he was amazed.

Yup, we got a boarding pass for the other ride in the area: Rise Of The Resistance. It is incredible. I'll share tips on how to get a boarding pass in a future blog post.

There's a neat shopping area:

We decided to try the blue and green milk.

The blue was the favorite. It's sweeter. But the green wasn't terrible either. I'd get both again.

Steve was amazed at all the different areas and the details:

I had to get the cool looking Diet Coke.

Steve was like, "Wait, why do these things behind me look like me?"

Tommy brought out the lightsaber and the Stormtroopers were suspicious of him:

Basically? It's incredible. If you're a Star Wars fan, you'll be blown away. Even if you aren't a Star Wars fan, it's still a neat area. Next time we hope to check out Oga's Cantina, where you can get alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, plus light snacks. I'm told it's cool inside, but warning, you need a reservation. We also need to try Ronto Roasters which is another place to get food.

Right now Savi's Workshop is closed, which is where you can build a lightsaber. We hope to do this next year if it re-opens. The Droid Depot IS open. You can build your own droid but we opted NOT to do this since we're saving for a lightsaber.

Oh, and don't forget the special photo op! We found a Photopass Photographer near this wall and look! Steve's friend who stars in The Mandalorian on Disney+. It returns this fall. Steve is like yo creature who looks like me.

Have you been to Galaxy's Edge yet?

  3. I have watched the Star Wars filmed when I was a teen but I didn't really get into them. Maybe I should try again, same as you. The park looks pretty spectacular I have to admit, I would love to go and explore. I love how they thought to name the meals in fun ways.
