When your kids are older, I find Christmas isn't as chaotic. Christmas can be a little different.
Let me explain the ways.
1. You have to wake them up. It was about 830 and both kids were still passed out.
2. They'll mostly get things like video games. This is a plus because you don't have to put toys together! Or take them out of their packages.
3. And tons of food. My son eats all the time, so he got a bunch of chocolate and snacks. They'll be gone in like 3 days.
4. But if you have a girl, it might be makeup. I don't understand makeup, so I have her show me what she likes before Christmas so I know.
5. Oh, they'll also have to post photos of their gifts on social media BEFORE they open them. Yup. Gotta get those new shoes on Snapchat!
6. Batteries will still be forgotten. I have tons of AA ones, but naturally this requires Ds. Naturally.
Things are certainly different when kids are older. But personally, I prefer it. Still messy. But not so intense.
I'm sure it's still fun!
ReplyDeleteI think whatever age your kids are, they still love the holidays because they are cozy. I remember being a rebellious kid, but the holidays always made me so very happy!
ReplyDeleteI have older kids too now and they do not ask for a lot but the gifts are more expensive. I am not waiting for the car request which will be coming soon.
ReplyDeleteThis is so my kids on Christmas. They like gift cards and food for presents.
ReplyDeleteEverything is so different when you have older kids. Sleeping in is always a bonus. My kids are college age now and I have lots of fun with them
ReplyDeleteLOL You have to wake them up! My 2 year old was up at 2AM on Christmas morning! It'll be nice when she sleeps in!!
ReplyDeleteYep, that's about right. I was shocked that my girls slept until 8:30 this year!
ReplyDeleteI agree, it’s not so intense when they’re older. I actually prefer this age group as well.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to have a teens, but for now I would more like to enjoy their messy clothes and lego's on the floor lol.
ReplyDeleteLOL. Glad to see that the battery thing never seems to change!
ReplyDeleteIt is still fun with older kids when they like makeup, food, video and so on but not toys.... :)

No matter what age, I loved unpacking gifts under the Christmas tree. In my country, Santa comes on the 24th in the evening. Usually children go out caroling and when they return, Santa has already visited their house, so the evening is all about opening presents.
ReplyDeleteI can totally relate to this. My son is now a teenager and although it's not as chaotic, it is still super fun. -LYNNDEE
ReplyDeleteChristmas gifts change with the kids' age, but some things are unchangeable. Seems they had lots of fun! :)
ReplyDeleteI am sure they had tons of fun. plus it is what slighter older individuals (like me) get for Christmas
ReplyDeleteIt's interesting how tastes change over the years. Yes, less intense but still as eventful. What's important are the shared moments together. Cheers.
ReplyDeleteSeriously. Our oldest is focused on getting video games all the time. It's his life.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first year my kids didn't really want toys for Christmas. They sure are growing up and I was a bit sad, but glad at the same time. I do find it harder to find gifts when they're older though. Luckily they gave me a list this year so it was a bit easier.
ReplyDeleteI love Christmas at any age. But maybe we enjoy Christmas more when our kids are older?!
ReplyDeleteAs an older person who still gets presents from my parents and parents in law, I can concur that video games/clothes/pants etc are all excellent and well accepted presents :)
ReplyDeleteYes my kids love to get presents from santa. They wakeup early in that morning. Looks like your kids got the presents what they want from Santa.
ReplyDeleteEvery Christmas is different especially when you have growing kids. The likes varies and changes as soon as they grow. Yeah, social media has a big impact to them too.
ReplyDeleteI can totally relate to this. My kids slept til 9:30 this year and then wandered downstairs very slowly. It was much more low key. And they too ate like 10 lbs of candy in like 3 days lol!
