Through All The Craziness There Is Excitement

Whew.

Let me tell you, I had a CRAZY week. I live in San Antonio, and we are not used to snow. 3 inches is nothing to you East Coasters, but it's something to us. Thousands lost power. Water. Grocery store shelves were bare.

But it wasn't all bad.

I mean, we got snow. This doesn't happen often. So while it was a tough week, it wasn't completely terrible.

It started falling in the evening, and it was real snow. Everyone in the house was excited.

When we woke up, we marveled at all the snow on the ground. When it snowed briefly in 2017, there was hardly any.

We weren't as thrilled when the power went off at 4 AM the next day. (It came back at around 3 PM)

And when the snow fell AGAIN the following day, we were pretty much over it, but still went outside because, well, SNOW in San Antonio. Who knows when it'll happen again?

So yes. It was a whirlwind. It was something I never want to experience again and if I do, I hope my husband is home. (He's currently deployed.)

My daughter absolutely loved all the bowls of snow she got to eat. She didn't even do the ice cream snow recipe. She just likes it straight up. (Oh and yeah, if you didn't notice, she enjoys dressing up.)

We're left with some crazy memories at least.

Lots of laughter.

And the knowledge that we made it through.

  6. I'm so glad you were able to see the silver lining, even in a terrible situation! As a Northerner, my heart has gone out to you all. We are prepared up here with pipes buried many feet under the ground, snow plows, and winter gear, but I felt so sorry for you all trying to deal with it without proper equipment.

  14. It is crazy how much snow everyone has had. it is all melting here which is nice for my driveway but many people are worried about flooding. It was fun to play in though.

  21. Glad that you had power. We lost our power for almost 32 hours, kids couldn't enjoy the snow as it is so cold and freezing inside the house.
