Things You'll Hear From Teenagers

Ah, teenagers. They can be such an interesting species. One minute they're happy, the next they're angry, followed by tears and oh, they're happy again. What?

There are certain things that they tend to say, and here are some of them.

Can I have money? They always seem to be broke. Granted, my son is excellent with saving money. My daughter? Not so much. She loves to shop.

Bruh/Brah/Bro  I have been called "bruh" more times than I care to count. I'll be like, "Get your homework done," and be met with, "BRUH!" or I'll be just sitting there and suddenly hear "bruh" and not realize it's ME that is being spoken to. When did I turn into a bruh? Do I LOOK like a bruh?

Look at this Tik Tok video! I have seen many videos on Tik Tok. Some are funny. Others I'm like, "What is the purpose of this?"

Can I have Robux? My daughter loves to play Roblox and always seems to need Robux, which is the currency of the game. Normally I tell her she has to wait for a holiday or her birthday. Unless she gets a bunch of good grades, then I might give her $20.

That's so cringe! Apparently some of the things I do are "cringe." Sorry. I am just trying to exist.

Can I have money? Yeah, I repeated this since it's asked so often. I usually say no but sometimes I am nice if a chore is performed and I am one of those who rewards good grades with cash.

I need a ride. Oh gosh, some days I feel like I'm just a taxi. Weekends my daughter is invited to parties, so I usually take her to those. Sometimes I do say no though. Moms need breaks too and some weekends I don't want to do a dang thing.

I'm hungry! Teenage boys seem to be a bottomless pit. My daughter can eat a ton too. We're sort of addicted to carbs. Be prepared to spend lots of money on food when you have a teen.

Teenagers aren't always the easiest to live with, but they can be a ton of fun as well. My teens share my love for Disney World, so we try and make a trip every year. My daughter and I are watching Gilmore Girls together, one of my all time favorite shows. So when they are in one of their moods, just focus on all the fun times you have with them and remember that they won't be a teen forever.

  1. My girls are addicted to spending time with each other (and with me) by scrolling through and showing all their favorite tiktoks. It's their favorite form of communication.

  2. My kids have bank accounts so they don't really ask for money now! My son has been really good at saving. They do start a lot of sentences with "I saw this video on tik tok..."

  3. I have two teens at home and they are always saying I am hungry. Also, there is nothing to eat in this house.

  21. Some days it feels like language is devolving so quickly. At least when my kids were teenagers it was "dude", or some actual word with diction and not what's basically an exhale. We're a step closer to going back to grunts, honestly!!!!

  22. Ha, that's so funny. I dread the day mine start calling me Bruh etc. At the moment I get, Yes Queen from one of mine. And that one isn't a teen just yet!
