History Is Magical: Seeing The Statue Of Liberty and Ellis Island

Liberty State Park is beautiful. Not only is it beautiful, but you can just feel the history around you. During the 19th and early 20th centuries, tons of people came through.

When we first arrived, we saw this 9/11 Memorial. It's called the Empty Sky Memorial and faces the World Trade Center site:

There's a beautiful day terminal that thousands of people went through back in the day. There used to be a working train station and you can still see the tracks. It's fun to imagine all the people who came through.

We got our tickets for the ferry so we could see the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island:

As we waited for the ferry we saw old docks, which was pretty neat. We imagined the ships that used to be there. Oh gosh, if we could have, we'd have gone to the dock where the Titanic was supposed to come in. That would have been cool.

This was our ferry:

Check out the train station!

The ferry ride isn't too long. As I recall it stops at Ellis Island first, and then the Statue of Liberty. There is food to purchase on the ferry but it's overpriced.

So the Statue of Liberty is cool to see. But it's crowded. So we took our photo and went shopping in the store.

Oh, and Natalie seemed more excited about the pay phones they have on the island:

Our next stop was Ellis Island:

We imagined all the people coming through.

Natalie loved the vintage luggage:

Randomly we found Titanic post cards in the shop there and she was thrilled:

We ended up having a fantastic time. I believe the ferries leave every 30 minutes so we didn't have to wait long to get to NYC.

It's always a good day when you can soak in some sun and history.
