Remember how I wrote about the Adult Happy Meals at McDonalds last week? Well, guess what they released this week?
If they look familiar, they were around in the 80s:
They also were released a few years ago but then went away. So when it was announced that they'd return in 3 different designs, people went nuts.
I did not, I am proud to say. Some people rushed to the store when they were released on October 18th. I knew how swamped the store would be since I was an idiot who turned up on the first day the adult Happy Meals came out. I vowed never to show up on release day again.
Mind you, going the next day an item is released isn't the smartest idea either. I knew I was in for an adventure when the drive thru line was backed up.
Tommy and I go to McDonalds every Wednesday after his college class so I found a parking spot and we went in.
People everywhere. And I saw Boo Buckets everywhere. In children's hands. In adult's hands. In teenager's hands. But hey, at least I knew they were in stock. Yesterday I had heard they ran out by the evening.
I mean, of course I got one even if they aren't as nice as the ones from the 80s. In the 80s they had actual lids. These don't have proper lids. They also feel cheaper. But they are still cute. (The buckets will serve as the toy when you order a Happy Meal.)
There are 3 different face designs on the buckets. This was me when I see my total after a Target shopping trip:
If you installed the McDonalds app and have enough points, you can even get them for free. I have plenty of points so mine was free. The pumpkin Boo Bucket has been spotted at various McDonalds, but the witch is rumored to come out next week. There are some folks who are willing to drive to different McDonalds to get them all. I am not one of those people. Gas is expensive. If the other show up at our local McDonalds, I'll use my points and pick those up. If not, ah well.
Have you picked up a Boo Bucket yet? You have until Halloween to get one or while supplies last.
I didn't get one of these but I understand the craze. I just can't take one more plastic piece of "junk" in my house.

ReplyDeleteThose are so cute and the perfect reusable prize for happy meals.
ReplyDeleteI loved these growing up. Sad they didn't do the old lids that had the cookie cutters on the points.
ReplyDeleteSo many of my online friends are talking about these buckets. They do look like fun.
ReplyDeleteI loved these when I was growing up. I really wish they had the lids on them this time though. I actually went out to McDonalds tonight and bought a kids meal to get the bucket too. I got the pumpkin one. I really wanted the ghost, but hopefully I'll be able to get them all.

ReplyDeleteMcDonalds is such a great season icon with there Happy Meal Toys and these Boo Buckets are great too!
ReplyDeleteI'm disappointed that they aren't like the originals. However, I saw on TikTok a women recommend using them to hold their adult beverage which I think is a great idea for repurposing the buckets.
ReplyDeleteThat's fun that you were able to get your hands on a boo bucket. I guess I would expect there to be some drama!
ReplyDeleteI tried getting one the other night but they had already ran out. I'll have to try again this week when they get a truck in.
ReplyDeleteThis boo bucket idea is really great. Would love to try it out on the Halloween.

ReplyDeleteI love these buckets, but I prefer the ones they first came out with. I wish they had them with the actual lids again.
ReplyDeleteI didn’t work on Tuesday, the day they were released. However, we were busy today and we sold a bunch of boo buckets. I turned in points for one. I got the purple one that is new this year. It’s a vampire. I agree the ones in the 80s were so much better.
