Fantasmic is this spectacular show that starts at night at Disneyland. (It's at Disney World too!) It stars Mickey Mouse and he battles villains with cool effects. You'll see princesses and princes, plus other loved characters. The show runs about 25 minutes.
At Disney World there is ample seating. But at Disneyland, you have to stand. Unless you get a Fantastic dining package where you'll have a reserved spot to watch. This can be beneficial because who wants to be shoved against other people at the end of the day? There is a premium package where you can dine at a fancier sit down restaurant like Blue Bayou. The food is said to be delicious and you get to sit on actual chairs for Fantasmic, but it's pricier at $89 a person.
Or there's the cheapest package, or standard package as they politely call it, which we did, at Rancho Del Zocalo, a quick service spot located in Frontierland. Their food is a Mexican-Korean fusion and it costs $35 per guest ages 10 and up or $25 for ages 3-9.
You get the following:
Here's the kids menu and the drinks:
You can make reservations for this 60 days in advance via the Disneyland app, website, or phone. There's lunch from 11 AM- 3:30 PM and dinner from 3:30-8:30 PM but the menu is the same for each. You can pick which Fantasmic show you'd like to see when making the reservation: during busy times of the year, there's 2. We opted for the earlier one at 9. You're given these tickets to give to the person when you head to the reserved seating area:
It tells you where to go for the show. Harbour Galley is that spot with those viral chocolate chip cookies. And yes, I thought about the Fast Passes that looked like this back in the day. *Sniffs*
In the restaurant, there's a special spot to pick up the food for the
Fantasmic dining experience. Our reservation was at 1130 and there was no wait so I recommend an earlier lunch time if it's available.
Natalie and I had the Sweet & Savory Carne Asada which was tender with lots of flavor. I was worried it might be chewy, but it was perfect:
Tommy had the Chile Verde Riblets and he was impressed with them. Both meals were winners.
Each dish comes with Radish Slaw, Cilantro-Lime Rice, Korean Potato Salad, and Refried Beans. The rice was amazing! I wish we got more of it. All the sides were gobbled up.
The dessert is a Cortadillo, which has jam and a vanilla cake & frosting. It was tasty. It reminded me of a strawberry Pop Tart kinda except obviously in cake form:
There's plenty of seating inside & out. Plus there was a spot outside to fill water bottles, so that was nice as well.
Is The Fantasmic Package Worth It?
I thought so. We had reserved spots for Fantasmic so we didn't have to scramble to show up early. I noticed people start to get spots around 7 and the show didn't even start until 9. We had until 845 to show up and I believe we got there at 830. It wasn't horrible sitting on the ground, but those have struggle with this might want to opt for a premium Fantasmic experience to get an actual chair.
Plus, as I mentioned, we were impressed with the food.
As you see, our view was pretty awesome:
If you attempt to book at 60 days and don't find anything, keep trying! I found the
reservation for Rancho Del Zocalo a day before. People cancel all the time, so you might get lucky.
Have you ever seen Fantasmic?
I've not seen Fantasmic so this review was really helpful. So pleased you enjoyed the food and good to know you got the tickets when you did!
ReplyDeleteWe had ticket for the one at Disney World but it was raining and we had to go as we would not have been able to take any pictures or videos with the rain.
ReplyDeleteLooks like an amazing place. I haven't been to Disney, but I would sure go there. The food looks so good too.
ReplyDeleteI haven’t seen this show. I’ve only been to Disney in Florida. The show sounds amazing. I remember being packed in an area at Disney in FL to watch the closing show. It was so crowded. I think having a designated spot would be more appealing.
ReplyDeleteThank you for honest review. With the reserved spot for Fantastic, I can say that it's worth it. Happy to know that food is good too. Will consider this during our next DL trip.
ReplyDeleteIt has been a long time since I took my boys to disney, fl. The show sounds so amazing, and thank you for the review of the food, Which looks so good as well.
ReplyDeletei don;t think the show was on when we went to the park so definitely hope to see it when we go next.. and we love the food at Disney theme parks!
ReplyDeleteI have a picky 10 year old. Does anyone know if we can pay for an adult but order off the kids menu? (I get that he's over the age cut off which is why I'm willing to pay the difference)
ReplyDeleteWe've been to Disney World so many times but have never stayed for Fantasmic so we could beat the traffic lol. The food looks amazing! I'm curious about that Korean potato salad.
ReplyDeleteThank you for such detailed insights! The combination of Mexican‑Korean flavors and the reserved viewing spot makes it sound like an excellent value. I appreciate how you highlighted both food quality and logistics, it really helps families make an informed decision.
ReplyDeleteIt's been a while since I've been to Disney, but after reading your honest review I would love to visit and check out the Fantasmic. The food looks amazing especially the Sweet & Savory Carne Asada.
ReplyDeleteIt's good to hear that they have different package options available to suit different budgets. It sounds like even though you didn't get the most expensive one it still worked very well for you. The food you had looks amazing!! Plus, you had a great view.

ReplyDeleteThe price points aren't too bad here and I would have picked Carne Asada too - that's one of my fave Mexican entrees. I have never heard of Cartadillo dessert, but it sure sounds yummy.
ReplyDeleteI have been only to Disney World , not Disneyland, so this is helpful info. I definitely would want to sit down while watching Fantasmic so I would choose that more expensive option!
ReplyDeleteThe food is on the expensive side, but I can see how you're really paying for an experience. And it looks like a great place to eat!
ReplyDeleteWe were at Disneyland in May and was considering this package. Next time we go, we will probably do it!
ReplyDeleteVery helpful info and definitely was useful in allowing me to make a final decision with the pics of the food and your reviews of the meal. Thanks!
