The Trials Of The Shoe Graduation Pic

I thought, hey, we should get a cute pic with the shoes Natalie will be wearing on graduation day and her tassel.

I've seen pictures of legs popped up like at the end of The Princess Diaries with the tassel dangling from the heel. It seemed easy enough to recreate. 

She found these Betsey Johnson butterfly heels to wear on the big day. 

So I was like, okay, pop up your leg and she was like, "There." I said "you need to lift it up more," and she went, "This is as high as I go!"

Oh and yeah, she only put one shoe on. The tassel was still dangling on the ground.

Yeah. So. Not gonna work. Um.

Here's the thing. We cannot walk in heels properly. We wobble. We crash into things. How she's going to walk across the stage is beyond me. She says she'll be okay since these are kitten heels. Kitten heels sound less dangerous that heel heels. 

"Okay, let's try it again," I suggested. I changed the tassel. Maybe we'd get better results.

"Higher!" I urged.

"I CAN'T!" 

"Leg up!" I said.

I asked if she could go any higher. She could not, and then the tassel kept spinning.

She stayed like this for maybe a second before swaying back and forth. I did not want her to fall over and break something. Can you imagine? A cast before graduation? Her hobbling on crutches across the stage and telling people, "This happened because my Mom wanted a stupid graduation pic."

We did manage to get a better shot with the other tassel. It kept turning like a drunken ballerina. 

Then I figured I didn't want to chance anything and I said it was good enough.

But moral of the story is? Hold the heel for better pics. I've seen people do that too. Or they'll be sitting and lifting their heel up and balance the tassel on that way. 

Oh well. We tried.
