Wearing The Notebook Allie Dress

Who loves The Notebook?

I first discovered the book by Nicholas Sparks in High School. I devoured it in maybe 2 days. It's not that long, but it's powerful.

It's about Allie and Noah, who meet when they are 17. At first Allie isn't sure about Noah but then they fall in love over the summer. Allie is wealthy, Noah is not, so Allie's parents do not like him. Allie eventually breaks up with Noah and has to go back to real home. He writes to her every day but Allie's mom intercepts the letters so he never gets a reply. He enlists in the war. Allie becomes a nurse and meets Lon, who comes from money. They get engaged.

Then she sees a photo of Noah in the paper with the house he promised to build her when they were kids. She goes to see him. They realize they still love each other but Allie doesn't want to hurt Lon, who is a good guy from money, so her parents love him. In the end she choses Noah. Noah is telling this story in a nursing home years later. Allie has dementia. She barely recognizes him. But Noah always visits and tells her stories about them from his journal. She becomes lucid at one point and remembers it all. Then it's quickly gone and chaos ensues.

The ending? Well. You'll have to read the book or watch the movie. It's pretty powerful stuff.

Anyhow.

My point is, my daughter Natalie also adores the book and the movie. She's 17. We found a woman on Etsy who made the dress Allie wears when she visits Noah.

Here's the dress from the movie:

"So it's not gonna be easy. It's going to be really hard; we're gonna have to work at this everyday, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, forever, everyday. You and me... everyday."

The dress is wonderfully made from the heartmycloset store on Etsy. We sent in Natalie's exact measurements so it fits like a glove.

"We fell in love, despite our differences, and something rare and beautiful was created."

"It was real, wasn't it? You and me. Such a long time ago, we were just a couple of kids. But we really loved each other, didn't we?"

Even better, the Little People brand has Noah and Allie figures, so we had to get them. (You can get them on Amazon here.)

Have you ever seen or read The Notebook? And even better, there is a musical as well, which I need to see!
