Inside Natalie's Closet: GBR Edition

So Gymboree had something called Gymbuck Redemption, which basically meant you could save money on the clothes you bought.

Gymbuck Redemption has been known to give me a headache because I never exactly know what I want. However, this time I'm pleased on what I picked out.

So without further ado, here is an entry called Inside Natalie's Closet: GBR (Gymbuck Redemption) edition.

"Hey Natalie, what do you think of the new dress?"

Natalie says, "Meh."

Then I started to sing creepy Yo Gabba Gabba songs and she warmed up:

"Hey Natalie, I got you some sunglasses to go with the dress. What do you think?"

Natalie says, "Meh."

But then I sang again and waved to a neighbor who walked past with her dog. "Nice song," she called out as I sang about not biting your friends.

"Come on Natalie, time for an outfit change. We'll pretend we're Jennifer Lopez."

And yes, that is a plastic skull that she's holding. She refused to let it go. "SKULL WANTS PICTURE TOO!" she bellowed as the same neighbor who had passed before, returned home. She probably thinks we're some freak house who collects skulls and talks about not biting people.

"Natalie, we just have one more outfit left. Okay?"

"WTF do you mean one more outfit?"

After a bite of chocolate, Natalie returned.

Only she didn't come back as Natalie.

She came back as a fairy.

She had to have the unicorn purse. While deciding what I should order, Natalie had spotted the purse and had gone, "For me?"

"Yes, Natalie, the purse is for you." And yes, she insisted on wearing her pink boots.

"I yuv the horse," Natalie said.

She doesn't always laugh when I sing. No, sometimes I have to run into the house to get a smile. I'm not kidding. Should I be concerned that my fake pain causes her pleasure?

After I ran into the house, Natalie pointed and shrieked, "Mommy went bang!" (And the same neighbor came outside to throw some trash away and saw me colliding ON PURPOSE with my home. Yeah. We're freaks in her eyes.)

Still amused.

Did I mention that the shirt had wings on the back?

"Natalie, I got you some sunglasses to go with this outfit too!"

"Say what?"

I was trying to get her to peek demurely out of her glasses. She kept going, "What's demore mean?"

"Mommy is funny when she smacks into a wall!"

This picture is called: "Natalie. With a Tumbleweed."

"Okay Natalie, just a few more pictures. Smile for Mommy!"

"Love you, Natalie."

"Yuv you, Mommy."

  1. You and Natalie almost make me want to buy cute clothes at Gymboree. Almost.

I read this on the day I'm going to Goodwill to find some cute pillowcases to make Jesse some summer dresses. LOL She'll never know what true style means. It will always be jeans and a shirt and something I made.

You and Tom make beautiful children. Just adorable!

  2. what a beautiful little glamour girl! and your photos are so gorgous. I love the candidness. I think my picture taking ability is limited to pose and say cheese. unless my camera sucks in which case I will definitely buy a new one if it makes my photos look so great!

  3. She is so gosh-by-durn-and-golly cute!!!

And that blue outfit seem to really be "her" color.

I guess someday we will be reading about her in one of the super-model magazines unless she never outgrows the smiles only when sung silly songs or mom walks into a house thing.

  6. I love, love, love the fairies outfit. Fairies is the theme of Cameron's nursery. But cute, old fashioned ones, not the sexed up Disney ones. Those make me shudder.

  7. I wish I'd had a shirt with fairy wings when I was little.

That first dress is so cute.

I do love the picture of her with the caption of, "WTF do you mean one more outfit?"

  10. Gawd! The pink boots, the wings, the shades-- this girl is smokin'!

Love each outfit, and love that smile!

Yeah... why do they love our fake pain so much? It's like when we laugh at the roadrunner bashing the coyote with an anvil... or it's not. You decide-- she's your little doll! (But we get to love her from afar!)

  17. Gymboree should give you free gymbucks for the pics you post!

    Absolutely adorable.

I get a little ache, wanting a little girl, when I see clothes that cute. Gymboree's boys stuff, actually any store's boy stuff- nowhere near as cute.

  22. You are SO lucky that she will let you dress her up! I MISS those days SO much! I tried to buy cute pieces that will work together no matter what you choose, but somehow my 6 year old can STILL put together some questionable ensembles. >sigh<

  34. I think you need to sort through your posts and tab all of the ones that gush about Gymboree's awesome (but overpriced! ACK!) clothing and send the link to Gymboree and they will love you and send you GymBucks which you can use to spend on more ADORABLE clothing so we can see more of these fashion shows that your beautiful children put on for us. And, though you may have to permanently injure yourself to get the proper smiles, your beautiful children and hilarious posts will generate SO MUCH REVENUE for Gymboree that they will unanimously elect you as their new spokesperson which would mean that your kids' closets would be stocked with every new outfit, every single season. This would save you the grief from having to hide from Mr. Grumpy-Husband-Man who doesn't see the VALUE in the adorable (but overpriced! ACK!) Gymboree clothing.

    See? I is a genius. You're welcome.

beautiful clothes you picked.. loved the lady bug one!!

  48. But of course fairies should wear boots - pink ones especially - so they can STAMP OUT monsters!

Natalie is adorable! I yuv her!

I yuv her clothes, too! I wish Gymboree made clothes in big ladies sizes. Of course, I wouldn't look as cute as Natalie. Well, let's face it, I wouldn't look cute at all. I'd look ridiculous. Sigh.
