Hey, It's Okay!

Glamour has this bit in their magazine titled “Hey, It’s Okay…” and then lists a bunch of stuff to be okay about. I decided to steal this idea and make a blog entry out of it. So here we go..

Hey, it’s okay...

...to be a little afraid of the people who wear shirts that say “I do whatever the voices inside my head tell me to.”

...to briefly contemplate selling your children after a disastrous day.

...to think that the newest Bachelor Jake is attractive but a bit of a drama whore who probably should see a psychologist.

...to not understand the popularity of Jersey Shore and the chick called Snoopy. Or is it Snooki? Snoopy? Snooki? Sneaky?

...to prefer shopping for your children over yourself.

...to curse the people who refuse to use their turn signal while driving. I mean, how hard is it to flick your wrist and let other vehicles know of your intentions?

...to purposefully misplace your daughter’s copy of Snow White because you can’t stand to watch another minute of that ditz singing.

...to not understand what the CRAP is going on in the show Lost to the point where you can’t even join in on conversations about it because all you have to offer is, “Can you believe that giant smoke monster thing?”

...to wonder if the guy who plays DJ Lance on Yo Gabba Gabba ever thinks to himself, “THIS is what I do for a living?” but then realize that he probably laughs all the way to the bank.

...to wonder what your combined name with your husband would be if you were a celebrity (for the record, mine would be TomBer.)

  1. Jake is awesome. I love a man who dry heaves on the edge of a balcony.

  2. Great points. My hub is Jeff, so we're Leff. (Jeah just doesn't cut it.)

He also thinks we should make our last name "Blood-Axe". It has a certain ring to it, no?

  3. I used to have that shirt! In high school. And I really wasn't scary, at all.

  4. I think the same thing about the DJ on Yo Gabba Gabba. It's a kiddie rave that is raking in the bucks.

  5. OMG, that turn signal!!! You hit the nail right on the head of something that has annoyed the crap out of me since I started driving 30 years ago!

  6. oh lord, I hate to think what our names woul dbe combined...

    Christri...not that's not right

Trichri...nope that doesn't sound good either...

...I guess its a good thing we are not rich & famous!

  7. I wholeheartedly agree with all of the things you listed! You know I watch the Bachelor, and the more I watch the more I wonder about Jake. I have theories on "Lost" but they usually make my husband's eyebrows furrow, and apparently make no sense to anyone but myself. Well...I guess that's the way with most things though!

  8. i have been thinking about doing my own "its OK" blog...way to go...valid points too!! hahaa

  9. Your celeb/combo name is cool. It's sort like "timber" and I can hear the paparazzi now...hollering "Look this way ToooomBerrr". :)

    ReplyDelete
  10. Or Ambom. Ambom is way cooler!

Mine would be Jachille - pronounced jay-shill... not so glamerous!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Love these!

I wrote about Gabba Gabba today, too, though I mentioned how weird Moono looks and how maybe he isn't suited for a kids' show...

  12. My t-shirt just has blood splatters on it...

(Just a wicked paper cut.. nothing serious!)

I have avoided the "Jersey Shore" thing like the plague... or actually even more than the plague... :)

  13. SO silly! Love 'em. . .

  14. I love your list!

And just WTH is up with Lost? Now they have like these pop up video subtitle things. It's quite literally like watching a foreign film - and that's exactly how well I'm following it too!

And since I have no significant other, I choose Brendan Fraser. Our power couple name would be Briffany. Couldn't you totally picture us hanging out with Brangelina? Like it's meant to be...

  15. My mom and my sister give us joint Christmas presents that say "To: Bengie" every year. He hates it, I think it's hilarious.

    ReplyDelete
  16. My hubby always asks if I would still love him if he was one of the Wiggles. Tough question.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I totally hide Snow White on a regular basis. She has to be the most annoying disney character ever!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I so needed a laugh this afternoon!

My daughter has discovered Yo Gabba Gabba and unfortunately loves it. I have questioned DJ Lance several times myself!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Our name would be RoCai which sounds like something thedog off Scooby doo would say. Not cool!

    ReplyDelete
  20. You made me snicker. Several times! :)

    ReplyDelete
  21. hate to say it.. but i dont get lost either.. i tried once, really hard..

but it sorta gave me a headache!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Ah yes shopping for our kids over ourselves....a perk of being a parent!

    ReplyDelete
  23. Oh TomBer, you're so damn funny. I am truly grateful that it's OK to contemplate selling your children on occasion. You made my whole afternoon.

    ReplyDelete
  24. okay so I am so with you on all but maybe one or two...shopping for my children is so much easier but not more satisfying. If I could just be a normal one size like my kids with the elastic waste bands I would be all set. And I am so with you on the whole snow white stuff and wth cares about LOST. I don't get it at all.

  25. oh and we would be tory if we were famous and I don't think the hubby would like to be known for tory.

  26. Lost is just an excuse for a bunch of acid trippers to come together once a week and explore their minds. It's not a show you can follow, right?

Oh and mine would be Mickly... not sure I like that!

    ReplyDelete
  27. TomBer.
So cute, and very US Weekly-like!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Totally stealing your idea. Love it! The hubs and me have one-syllable names, so would we just be a two syllable name together? That would just look like a grammar error: JohnTam. No wonder we're not celebrities!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Oh I love these! I want a celeb name now though!

    ReplyDelete
  30. I hate Jersey Shore. I refuse to watch it on principle.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I don't want a celeb name..nope, not gonna do it, you can't make me....yeah, ok...we'd be Tete or Perry....what of it?? That is why I CHOOSE to not be famous :)
    Loved this post!

    ReplyDelete
  32. We'd be "PatTra." Ick. Sounds like a giant Japanese monster.

THE BACHELOR! Oh my God. I recently found this mind-suck and I am hooked, though I know not why. I wanted to slap him yesterday when he was all "I'm not ready to say goodbye to you! Wah wah wah! MY HEART!" Yeah, yeah, ya jerk. WHAT DO YOU THINK THE OTHER GIRLS WERE THINKING?!?

    ReplyDelete
  33. Good reminder of ok things. Don't take like to seriously.

    ReplyDelete
  34. How about...It's okay to hide a box of Thin Mint cookies from all the kids and hubby and then eat them in one sitting? No? Is that just me?

    ReplyDelete
  35. Very funny.

    It's definitely okay.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I think Yo Gabba Gabba is the new Electric Company (if you remember that show). Therefore DJ Lance may be the next Morgan Freeman :-) I really do prefer shopping for my kids than myself. My sister thinks I am nuts - she doesn't have any kids yet.

  37. I don't have anyone to combine names with, but now I have yet another thing to add to the "possible future husband material" checklist. Name must combine well with Sarah. I'll slot it in between "must have own hair" and "must understand the need to put the toilet seat down after use". *Sigh* I'm gonna die alone.LOL

  38. The Snow White thing cracked me up...I totally feel ya on that one.

The hubs and I would be Mikesey. I think we'll call ourselves "The Situation" like that douchebag on Jersey Shore.

    ReplyDelete
  39. ...to sit on your bum and blog instead of eating, or drinking, or moving anything but your fingers across a keyboard ;-) That one definitely applies to me!! It has been a great weight-loss plan!

  40. Love this idea and love TomBer, you should totally call yourselves that :)

    ReplyDelete
  41. And just how much would you take for those kids right now?
(the Yo Gabba guys seemed to have had a great time in Vegas)

    ReplyDelete
  42. oh dear sweet idiotic jake....what a waste of a good looking man! and i don't care how much money dj lance makes...that guy CREEPS ME OUT!

    ReplyDelete
  43. I love so many of those - hard to choose the best, but the selling of your chilren will by my mantra next week while they are all home from school on half term.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I don't watch the Bachelor, Lost or Jersey Shore so I'm kind of "lost".

    ReplyDelete
  45. In the useless knowledge department: did you know that one of the Yo Gabba Gabba creators was one of the guys in the 80's group Devo?

I know, I'm sure you were dying to learn that.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I don't watch the Bachelor, but I've heard the same things.

And, I agree with the shopping...but once and a while, I'd like to do something for me!

    ReplyDelete
  47. These are great! BTW, if you find a buyer for the kids, send them my way!

    ReplyDelete
  48. This is a great idea. I love your list of it's okays!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I'm going to show this list to hubby. He NEVER uses his signal. I watch closely, now, and try to keep count of the people who curse him. ;)

I think Snow White is an annoying wench, too, and could crack glass with that 1940's voice! Ugh.

    ReplyDelete
  50. The more people tell me I will "just LOVE" Lost, the more I would rather watch reality TV on Bravo.

Except for The Bachelor. God help me, I love that show. I fear for Jake, though, because I believe he's going to make a really, really stupid decision.

Is it weird that I like the genetically enhanced swimsuit model with scary clown lips?

    ReplyDelete
  51. So glad I don't watch Yo Gabba Gabba. Is that what it's called?

    ReplyDelete
  52. My hubby & I will never have a hip celebrity couple name.

There's not a whole lot you can do with "Shannon" and "Shane".

    ReplyDelete
  53. I agree with you that Yo Gabba Gabba is down right creepy! What is it that our kids love about that show? Ugh! Perhaps I need to switch careers and start producing creepy and disturbing shows like Yo Gabba Gabba and Teletubbies. Are you in?! How bizzare. :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. Your new "Hey, It's Okay..." column, much better than okay! I look forward to more of these. At least someone else is validating what I was already thinking. Now I have proof that it's okay to think that way. Thanks!

  55. hahahah This list is Hysterical! love it. Following ur blog!!
