Hey, It's Okay Tuesday!

I got this idea from Glamour magazine. They have a section called Hey, It’s Okay and will list a bunch of things to be okay about. I think I’m going to do this every Tuesday now. You're welcome to join in and do something like this on your diary. Doesn't have to be on a Tuesday either.

Hey, It's Okay....

To think that Miley Cyrus needs to wear pants in her latest weird bird video. I mean..Billy Ray, hello? Your daughter is missing her pants. Then again, you let Miley date a twenty-year-old when she was sixteen so...(I'm just saying, Tom would go after a guy with his shotgun if he were twenty and Natalie was only sixtreen..)

To love the new limeade that Taco Bell sells.

To question the sanity of most of the mothers on Toddlers & Tiaras.

To not be able to walk properly in high heels.

To be a little miffed that it’s snowing. In MAY!

To not be ashamed that you asked for the epidural when giving birth.

To blast the song Cats in the Cradle when you feel like your husband isn’t spending enough time with his son.

To think Betty White is hilarious.

To be flattered that Alissa from Mommy&Molly asked me to guest post. I guest posted here.

To wonder how your friend Amanda can eat movie popcorn WITHOUT butter. Doesn’t it taste like Styrofoam?

To be a little nervous over watching the latest episode of The Tudors because you've heard the following happens: fingernails are ripped off, guts are taken out, and someone smears their poop on the wall because they are losing their mind over the prospect of losing their head.

To listen to Hallelujah by Rufus Wainwright when you are writing a particularly difficult chapter in your novel.

To think that the cake you got for your husband was hilarious:

What? He always complains that he’s getting old and that his knees hurt, and that his back hurts…

  1. my husband puts SO much butter on the popcorn that I could swim in it. yuck.

  2. is it really snowing on you in May??? How depressing!

  3. Well, I like the epidural line. It's amazing how many women's eyes get big and their look turns to disappointment when I told them I would be getting an epidural before even trying to go through all the pain!

  4. Thanks for the early-morning laugh!

  5. I can't watch Toddlers & Tiaras....I end up getting angry and yelling at the TV. It's not good for my blood pressure. LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  6. Hehehe, I can't walk in high heels either. Can anybody? Really?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Three births, three epidurals ... and I don't feel a damn bit guilty.

    ReplyDelete
  8. I can't watch Toddlers and Tiaras either - a bunch of overweight moms pushing their lost dreams on babies - so sad!
I have to say though, if you can't walk like a lady in high heels, don't wear them!

  9. Eating popcorn without butter is pointless.

Basically, the popcorn is an excuse so you can eat butter.

  10. Betty White is the most awesome old lady ever. I want to adopt her as my grandmother.

  11. Cute post!

My favorite line: Billy Ray, hello? Your daughter is missing her pants.

    Hilarious!

  12. I just... I just don't understand. Without the butter, where's the delicious warmth, the gooey fat, the salty perfection?

    That's just beyond comprehension.

  13. wow!! snow in may? that's just crazy... i believe down here the high will be around 92 this afternoon.. lol

ummm... the tudors is beginning to sound a little scary, especially the whole poop on the wall thing!

  14. Many thanks for visiting me over at Pen And Paper.

A fun blog, I've really enjoyed visiting your site.

Could I just add - it's ok to go without shaving your legs for just one more day. At least thats what I tell myself.

  15. Miley's grown up so quick she can't afford to buy pants, she needs all the money for the shrink.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I agree about Miley, but now, how about the lovely topless Natalie? (Oh that's right, you made her change.) I love the cake! What? He didn't?

  17. I went through this post saying yep! yep! uh huh! right on sister! so true!and the cake is great! when Eric turned 40 I had a cake that said older than dirt. he and my dad have the same birthday and dad was turning 60 so I put a hundred candles on the cake. yikes! thats a lotta heat!

  18. Love the Cats in the Cradle one, so true!

  19. Love the cake. And our forecast calls for snow this week. My mission to destroy the earth just went into full effect.

    ReplyDelete
  20. That is a bad ass cake! AND one of my friends eats movie popcorn without butter and it makes no kind of sense to me either!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Doesn't movie popcorn automatically come with butter?

I can walk in high heels up to a certain point. After that, all bets are off.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Well, that is the BEST cake ever! And so right, epidural are my BFF - no shame in admitting that.

    ReplyDelete
  23. You make my every tuesday magical.

    just sayin' :)

    ReplyDelete
  24. LMAO! And I totally did the Cat's in the Cradle bit with my husband when our kids were young.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Here's a new one...to not know what LMAO means. Everyone writes it to me and I can't figure it out. Then I forget to google it. I am the lady who tells the natural birth ladies to get their heads checked. PRO PRO PRO Epidural. Drugs... Bring it. :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. "Hallelujah" is the best song in the world. I sing it at every single one of my shows as the closing song.

    LOVE the cake.

    ReplyDelete
  27. You are hilarious! LOVED all of these!

    ReplyDelete
  28. Betty White kicked some senior butt on SNL!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I BRAG about getting an epidural! I'm all like "Woohoo! Modern science made my life easier! Love me some anesthesia!"

    ReplyDelete
  30. Too funny about Miley Cyrus. It looks like her little sister is following in her footsteps. I reluctantly had epidurals for all three births. I tried. I Reaaally tried to go without but I gave up during transition every time. Oh well! At least I have three beautiful babies to account for:)

    ReplyDelete
  31. FYI your blog is flat out awesome!! Then again, I'm sure you already know this :)

I look forward to following you and hearing what else you have to say about your life journeys!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Um, sorry, just not sure it's OK to even watch Toddlers & Tiaras

    ReplyDelete
  33. Snow?? Ok maybe I should stop complaining about the wind then!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I've noticed a lot of outfits recently that look that the girl forgot to put her pants on. NOT a cute look! Where are their parents?

  36. *drops everything to run to Taco Hell for this new limeade thing*

    ReplyDelete
  37. My stepdaughter not only drowns her popcorn in butter, she also covers it in Salt and Vinegar sprinkles. So much so that there is a one-inch layer of it at the bottom of the bowl when she finishes eating. Not an exaggeration.

    ReplyDelete
  38. snow????? you should add a mr. linky!!! I did one too!

    ReplyDelete
  39. OMG! That cake!!! And SNOW?! Wha...? NO FAIR!

    ReplyDelete
  40. Betty While on SNL was so fabulous! We taped it and watche dit last night. She is just always a hoot.

    McGruber....

  41. LOVE the cake! AWESOME!!!

When I read the part about you not being able to walk in high heals, I felt an even deeper kinship with you! In fact, I had this vision of you and I both participating in a beuty competition, tripping over our own feet, and falling on our faces. It's all flats for me!

Miley Cyrus does need to wear pants! I can't stand the thought of her being my daughters' role model!

I had 4 epidurals. I'm not ashamed on bit!

    ReplyDelete
  42. It's not the fact that Miley isn't wearing pants that bothers me, it's the fact that she reminds me of Britney Spears. And we all know how that turned out. Not someone to mold yourself after.

    Betty White IS hilarious.

    ReplyDelete
  43. i love the cake! Did he?

    ReplyDelete
  44. It's supposed to snow here in Northern Colorado this evening as well...and it's not okay with me.

    ReplyDelete
  45. All of that does happen on the Tudors!! How can you not have watched it yet?? I'm in my seat in front of that TV at least twenty minutes early on sundays!

It is okay to have had an epidural and not feel bad. But it's also okay to have not had pain medication during labor. Everyone has a different tolerance. And we all have to stop judging.

    Love Tom's cake!

  46. I love that cake. And Betty White. And your blog (but you knew that already). May I borrow this idea again? I think it's lots of fun.

    ReplyDelete
  47. I had an epidural with the first one which by the way is an absolute necessity when Pitocin is involved.

Sadly for me, the anesthesiologist took his own sweet time getting to me with the second and was too late. Dammit those f'ing stitches hurt worse than the pumpkin head I pushed out!

    ReplyDelete
  48. The last time I tried to walk in heels, I messed up my already messed up back and I was in bed the entire week before my wedding. At this point, heels can pretty much kiss my ass.

    ReplyDelete
  49. Oh my god, Betty White IS hilarious! You know what? I heard she has a fabulous muffin!

    LOL ;o)

    ReplyDelete
  50. I question the sanity of whoever put Toddlers & Tiaras ON TELEVISION. Sheesh. (Lol, you stole the Cat's in the Cradle thing from The Office, didn't you?)

    ReplyDelete
  51. a Little miffed? I've been spending my snowy mornings in a state of Pissed Off!
I love the cake, btw :)

    ReplyDelete
  52. What? You mean there are people out there that DON'T ask/beg/plead for epidurals? What is wrong with them? I actually asked my doctor if they still knocked the mother out.....he said no, so the epidural was my second choice.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Did he not love his cake? Ungrateful...he got cake! Yeah, Miley needs to put some pants on. Sounds like your novel is coming along, awesome!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Loved it again. Especially the Miley Cyrus ones. People are something.
Where did you get that cake? I need one for my husband who will turn 60 on the 28th.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I am really hoping that Miley Cyrus' 15 minutes are gone soon because there is NO WAY my daughter is watching anything done by that little tramp.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Who DOESN'T think Betty White is hilarious? She cracks me up.

LOVE the cake you got for Tom.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Yipee it's Tuesday!

I think I am the only person who fell asleep on the couch before SNL came on! I have to wait for the summer re-run!

And definitely not ashamed that I've had 3 very strong epidurals!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Loved Betty White on SNL! Too funny!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Love the cake! And yes, snow in May more than makes me a little miffed - sure hope that's okay as well :)

    ReplyDelete
  60. Thanks for your list! Gotta try that limeaide!

    ReplyDelete
  61. That there? was the absolute It's OK list you've done yet.

Hello on so many counts. Miley? WTF? and your daddy? WTF? And Hallelujah by Rufus? I thought it was only me whose brain ran on music.

Oh, and that cake. Just fantastic, fantastic.

    Great post. Thank you!

    ReplyDelete
  62. I guess Miley is past the "no pants" stage since she's buying her own place now.

    Love the cake.

Popcorn without butter? It's like a day without sunshine.

Drugs while giving birth is a good thing. Those women who don't use any should be anointed to Sainthood. And, btw, I think every man should have to pass a LARGE kidney stone, just to feel akin to the pain. just saying...

    ReplyDelete
  63. Love the cake! That ain't butter on the popcorn, or I'd eat it too. I'd need an epidural to walk in heels.

    ReplyDelete
  64. The kids in my class were talking about the new Miley video and one the 10 year old boys said, "I wish I could tap that". Good job Billy Ray.. You have successfully failed at being a decent father. Who would let their underage daughter do video like that? Ridiculous!

And snow in May sucks! I went to school in the NC mountains and although thats much warmer than where you are, we occasionally got snow in May. I wanted to cry every time it happened. I am so glad Im living at the beach now, it was 86* and sunny today! I am sure I will not be so happy during hurricane season, haha!

PS: I totally plan to use an epidural when I start having kids. I am not ashamed to say I dont want to feel my future babies gnaw their way out of my nether regions ;)

    ReplyDelete
  65. That is an awesome cake! Love it.

I hate snow in May. What the hell? Just enough to make a mess, and not enough for sledding.

    ReplyDelete
  66. I actually like the new Miley video. I have to block out her age though. When I start thinking about it I want to throw up a little.

I laughed at Betty White on SNL until I had to pee.

    ReplyDelete
  67. pretty funny stuff. PWT turned me on to you and I am glad she did. My name is Mike, nice to meet you.
