Things That Annoy Me

Got things that annoy you? List away! Here are the things that are currently annoying me:

All these award ceremonies for celebrities. It just seems like a waste of money. I get having one or two, but anymore than that is ridiculous.

Dogs that constantly bark. People, if you hear your pet going nuts, bring it in. Sure, it might annoy you inside, but you made the choice to have a pet, therefore you get to listen to it spaz out.

Charlie Sheen.

Parenting magazines. They usually make me feel guilty seeing as my kids watch more than two hours of TV, eat non-organic food, and I buy cleaning products with lots of toxins.

People who write the word “da” for “the.” I see teens do it a lot on Facebook and it makes my head spin. I just want to correct their spelling. Parents, if you see your teen doing this, CORRECT THEM for the love of chocolate.

Cliffhangers at the end of a television series. I’m not patient, I don’t want to have to wait all summer to find out if someone really croaked or not.

Whole grain pasta. It tastes like what I imagine a soggy cardboard box would taste like. Sauce does not help it. Butter does not help it. It’s just bad, bad, bad. I’ll take the real stuff.

Rich people food. I don’t understand it. Everything is tiny and made with funky things like duck eggs. I’m fine with a regular steak and fries.

  1. I like whole-grain pasta, but I agree with everything else!

  2. Not just the award shows - the pre-award, post-award, and following morning shows about the shows - stop the madness!

  3. I could list and keeping on listing...

I agree w/ these... especially w/ the "da" deal and the rich people food.

My biggest pet peeves are currently: The term "besties"... I understand teenagers using the word, but grown ups?? No.

And using "frans" instead of "friends". THAT gets under my skin!

  4. I'm with you on most of these but have you ever tried melting cheese on whole grain pasta? yummy!

  5. Amazing. The same things bother me. Especially the award shows.

  6. I think everything on your list annoys me- you should try rice pasta- really really gross! my son loves it though...

and Charlie Sheen- gag me with a spoon- I had the unfortunate luck of seeing bits & pieces of his interview thrown into my morning show this morning and it certainly doesn't make me like him anymore, which I am guessing is why he agreed to do an interview?

    ReplyDelete
  7. Good grief, did you see Charlie Sheen's interview on The Today Show this morning? Totally off his nut, this guy is! Yep, Mr. Sheen is definitely in serious trouble. And, if you ask me, he is addicted. His drug of choice? That would of course be CHARLIE SHEEN!

Big thing that presently annoys me? Halle Berry overexposure! Yes, yes, I get it: she's beautiful. But being uberboring and featured everywhere (<--These days, I half expect to see her face in the morning when I open the blinds.) snuffs that out for me. Give it a rest Halle.

  8. The waiters ALWAYS arrive just as you've taken a huge bite of your food and ask "Is everything okay here?"

How the fuck do you answer with a mouthful of lasagne?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Charlie Sheen is crazy. I just saw his interview and oh my gawd. Put that man in the loony bin and throw away the key.

  10. It drives me nuts when people write "thee" for "the." We have a relative who thinks it's cute and funny to address our mail to "thee Mayhem Family." Drives me nuts.

I totally agree with you about Charlie Sheen, parenting magazines, cliffhangers and whole grain pasta.

  11. The barking dog thing always amazed me. We used to live next to one of those. The neighbors either were deaf (which I know for a FACT they were not) or they just didn't care. It drove me CRAZY. And I love dogs. But barking dogs? Not so much.

On the other hand, I do love the award shows. In fact, I had an Oscar party last night! Watched it on a big screen TV with 20 of my closest friends here in the park!

  12. I love whole grain pasta. I can't tell the difference, but I've been eating it for so long.

My husband right yer, instead of your...drives me up the wall.

  13. Barilla Plus isn't whole grain pasta, but it's got protein, ALA omega-3, and about twice the fiber of regular pastas. I don't tell my family it's made from semolina, grain and legume flour blend (lentils, chickpeas, flaxseed, barley, spelt, oats) because they like it. It actually tastes very good!

  14. Amber,

I agree with you on most of what you said. My husband agrees with you on the whole grain pasta.

What is your signature on Words for Friends? Maybe we can play some time. Have a great day!

P.S. I hadn't heard about the musical Grey's Anatomy. Can't imagine. Will they sing "Doctor, Doctor"?

    ReplyDelete
  15. You know what really annoys me about the award shows? All the swag that they get. Like each one of them really needs an African safari. WTH?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Charlie Sheen is so annoying! I'm pretty sure he peaked with the movie Major League.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Awards shows are soul sucking, I agree. Although I do like to diss their multi-million dollar gowns.

I am currently annoyed by anything that moves—and things that don't (i.e. the congestion in my head).

Except you. I am not annoyed by you.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I am 100% with you on barking dogs. I actually go OUT with mine whenever possible JUST to make sure they don't. The funny thing is that my neighbors have the exact opposite attitude. They say things like 'dogs bark, it's what they do!" and this coming from people who don't own any. I guess that comes from living in the city. . .

    ReplyDelete
  19. Gee, we have a lot in common when it comes to annoyances, lol!

I can't stand when people write notes, email, or even college-level papers (I'm an English teacher) using text or tweet "speak." Is it really so hard to type an extra couple of characters?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Your annoyances are my annoyances. Every one of them.

We are twins separated at birth.

Well, with you, my twin, being born many years later.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Totally with you the award ceremonies for famous people. Ech. I am annoyed by the constant misuse of the words "unique" and "penultimate." Oh, and "literally." People should just not be allowed to use that one at all.

    ReplyDelete
  22. that's a pretty good annoyance list!!
    things i'm currently annoyed with:
-i'm sick with a runny nose, sore throat, cough and earache.
-I'm annoyed because my co-worker is gone this whole week to disneyland and i'm at work alone doing double duty.
-I'm annoyed I can't get good sleep when I'm sick.

that's enough annoyance for today! haha

    ReplyDelete
  23. You and I are of the same mind as I agree with your list. Particularly about the dogs. I wonder if I were to print this out - highlight that one - sneak over and put it on my neighbor's door if it would do any good?

    ReplyDelete
  24. ahahaha! Charlie Sheen has been annoying me as well. He's almost enjoying shooting himself in the foot in front of everyone that made him, him.

    ReplyDelete
  25. Love the line "CORRECT THEM for the love of chocolate." I am going to start using that.

Adding to the list friends who get too busy to maintain friendship. That just sucks.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Oscars. Emmys. Grammys. Tonys. Golden Globes (cause it's a chance to see everyone together.) That's it.

I'm SO SICK of hearing about Charlie Sheen. And Lindsey Lohan. Can we send them into exile like Napoleon? PLEASE!!!

I only say "da bomb" because it annoys and embarrasses my children to no end. That's what good parenting is all about!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Base housing - can't you call somebody and complain about the barking dog? If they can make you pay for a tree the animals eat then they should be able to stop a dog from barking.

    ReplyDelete
  28. After watching the snooze fest that was the Oscars last night, I couldn't agree more...

    ReplyDelete
  29. I didn't watch the Oscars. I ignore Charlie Sheen. I hate barking dogs, too. Yep, your list works for me, too.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I can't stand when a show I love is pre-empted because of some dumb local election or weather freak-out session. I think there needs to be a way for my show to still record and watch it later.

    ReplyDelete
  31. My head just exploded with all the agreeing I was doing. Whole wheat pasta = WHAT'S THE POINT? Charlie Sheen is a yawn nowadays. So you like hookers and blow, Charlie, the sun comes up every day and winter is cold. And yes on "Da". And anyone who speaks in text speak. Or uses numbers for certain words. Or anyone who comments on Yahoo bulletin boards or YouTube. Why is it always the most illiterate idiots who comment on YouTube? I don't get it at all. I realize I probably just turned into my own mother, but young people nowadays are illiterate morons thanks to improving technology. How did that happen?

    ReplyDelete
  32. charlie sheen is a train wreck. ridiculous. but I still watch.

whole wheat pasta is nasty. and so is rich people food. shudders

    ReplyDelete
  33. I LOVE that Charlie Sheen is just his own annoyance!

    ReplyDelete
  34. this came at the best time--I am sooo annoyed at the world right now. Glad I'm not the only one :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. I just threw a dirty sock at the television for a cooking show host (on PBS no less) that keeps saying "gonna"... its "GOING TO"... sheesh.. is it *that* hard to say properly????

Charlie Sheen is a waste of skin.

    ReplyDelete
  36. My neighbor has the most annoying dogs! grrrr. I also agree with you on the whole grain pasts...yuck! Something that annoys me: the use of the word "epic" to describe something one of my college peers does! WHAT? You pulled an "epic" all-nighter?! Doubt it!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I think 'da' is the most annoying of all of them on the list! Not to mention 'u' and 'ur'... it's 'got 2 b da' biggest pet peeve of mine!

    ReplyDelete
  38. I don't think I;ve seen DA for the but that would make my skin CRAWL.

    ick.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Thank you! Yes it is Eleanor Roosevelt. :) That is probably my favorite quote ever.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I just served whole grain Hamburger Helper for dinner... I didn't even know they made such a thing, nor did I realize I had it in the pantry until I went to the way back because I truly had no idea what to make and there it was!!! An oxymoron if ever there was one!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I can't believe "the" is too hard for some teens to spell out! Crazy pants.

    ReplyDelete
  42. haha... i love the last one...
rich people foods are so tiny and yet so expensive... why is that?

    really. why is that?

    ReplyDelete
  43. "da" and "u" drive me crazy. I cannot stand them. And Charlie Sheen? Someone put me out of my misery- I'm so tired of him.

I do like whole grain pasta though. And rich people food ;)

    ReplyDelete
  44. charlie sheen for sure, but check out the cat quotes...http://mediumlarge.wordpress.com/2011/02/24/cats-quote-charlie-sheen/

so thank you to crazy, narcisisstic (or however you spell it), wife abusing, drug using charlie sheen for providing someone with fodder for these...

    ReplyDelete
  45. Charlie Sheen seems to be at the top of so many people's lists and he keeps getting higher and higher...pardon the pun.

    ReplyDelete
  46. The best thing about award shows is the worst dress list afterwards. I love laughing at the multi-million dollar set who still can't seem to find anything decent to wear.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Charlie Sheen needs to just go away. Seriously. UGH.

Anything made with "whole grains" seems to taste like crap. Why can't we all just eat good old fashioned processed foods anymore? :)

    ReplyDelete
  48. I am with you with Charlie Sheen. Apparently only losers attend rehab.

    LisaDay

    ReplyDelete
  49. I can get the Globes and the Oscars, but what's the deal with the SAG awards? That's a waste and no one really cares about that one anyway. As for Charlie Sheen, he is a turd. He's not the only one on that show, and now he's got in cancelled for the other actors and the crew behind the scenes. And that "da" crap makes me want to punch people in the face. Call me hostile, but it looks and sounds stupid. So, yeah, I may sound like a jerk right now, but that junk drives me crazy...

    ReplyDelete
  50. My beef with the awards shows is that my regular shows either show reruns or aren't on at all in deference to the awards shows! Give me a choice people!!!!

And Charlie Sheen--this is what's left of your brain on drugs! Ick!!!! I truly hope he has a morals clause in his contract! Sheesh! Really? A warlock with goddesses??? REALLY???? I can't believe the parents of the kid on 2 1/2 men would even want their kid around Charlie long enough to say his lines!!!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Okay, what do they even DO with all those awards? Likely they sit in their huge houses, right?

Charlie doesn't really annoy me, but he is entertaining me with his quotes this week...

    ReplyDelete
  52. I'm annoyed by something I wrote about on my own blog -- little things us mom now have to worry about, like whether our child eats something off the floor. PLEASE!

    ReplyDelete
  53. I think I could cut & paste your whole list!!!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Oh, thank-god, I thought I was the only one who felt that way about whole grain pasta! The only time in my life I didn't enjoy my spaghetti was the absolute last time I bought whole grain pasta. :)
