Inside Natalie's Closet: Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Did you do anything fun? Green pancakes? Gold coins left by leprechauns?

I didn’t.

I know. Bad Mom. I figured the school would do something.

However, I did ensure that my kids wore green so they wouldn’t get pinched. Tommy went to school in a green polo.

Natalie went to school in this:

Yup. She’s wearing heels. Like Suri Cruise. Only Natalie’s are plastic and not $2000. (She did not go to school with the plastic heels.)

The shirt is Gymboree, the skirt is from Gap. Heels from Toys R Us, headband from the dollar spot at Target.

At first she wasn’t keen on taking pictures. She ignored me.

Then I got her to turn around and she was trying hard to act mad.

“I’m not taking anymore pictures today,” she informed me.

Two seconds later she was like, “Guess what? I WILL take pictures!” Her moods change so quickly.

She rushed over and was like, “I’m here!”

Then she asked if I was going to run into the side of the house to get her to smile.

“Not today. How about we smile just because we want to? You have to practice. School pictures are Monday and you can’t very well ask the photographer to run into a wall,” I explained.

Natalie is like, “Um. This is not computing…so this means no running into the side of the house to get me to smile?”

“Show me how you’re going to smile for the photographer!” I urged.

Um.

“Natalie, you have to open your eyes.”

“Er....while it’s awesome to have fun, when it’s time for school pictures you need to just smile.”

“Yes, like that.”

She started to dance to beat of her own drum.

And then she started to smile on her own. I mean, yes, I might have had to make farting noises but still....

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Celebrate with a Shamrock Shake from McDonalds. Or if green milkshakes aren’t your thing, go with chocolate. You can never go wrong with chocolate.

  2. So cute!!!

I decided, as an honor to St. Patrick, once the day-madness has ended (why didn't anyone remind me I have to CLEAN the flat if my sister comes to visit???), I will empty the bottle of Absinthe. It may be French, but at least it is green.

  17. I know I say this EVERY time we get a natalies closet post. But AAASACCCCCCCCKKKK! I can NOT take her utter adorability. It's just too great!

LOVE the skirt. So, SO cute! Look at you go with your Shamrocky self. My kids are currently sitting in brown and blue and pink, no green to be found. However, we're not going anywhere and come to think of it, I'm not sure they own any green. Hmmmm, problem.

  19. Natalie is so cute!!! Really, you could pay for her college tuition if you let her model. I'm sure GAP Kids and Gymboree would LOVE for her to model their clothes!! :o)

I didn't do anything "fun" either, but I did manage to find a green shirt for me to wear. :o)

  20. Seriously cutest outfit ever!!

The last few years I sort of bagged on St. Pats too.

But this year, I'm going all out.

Lucky Charms for breakfast - they're magically delicious don't ya know!

I packed them a very green filled lunch.

And dinner tonite - green eggs and ham.

    'Cause I'm awesome like that!

  23. Aw, your daughter is beautiful. And much better dressed than my own daughter, who didn't own anything green except for a green and yellow striped tank top (I know, right? Green and yellow. Ew.) that I had to pull out from the deep recesses of her closet and it's about two sizes too small, as it turns out.
But, we are making green mashed potatoes tonight for supper, and green parfaits for dessert, so hopefully I can redeem myself there.

The kids refused to eat them.

I sent them to school in their Celtics jerseys, and called it a day.

    Bad Mom. I know. :)

  45. I was a "bad" mom too until I was forced to quickly bake egg-free nut-free peanut-free cookies for my son's whole class because his teach emailed me some parent who owns a bagel shop brought in a green bagels for the whole darn class to share -- except my son who has food allergies. So he wouldn't. He didn't. And my morning was shot.
