Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day Review

Remember how I blogged about Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day?

Well, I also received 4 tickets to see the movie at an early screening.

Tom was like, "What is this? What are we about to see?" as we walked into the theater.

Tommy was like, "Are we going to be back home by 2? I have a livestream."

Natalie was like, "Are there princess in this? You said it was Disney."

"It's going to be good," I assured everyone. I hoped it was true. I'm picky about children's movies. I won't lie. Many I won't sit through. I wait until it comes out on DVD, rent it for the kids, and have them watch upstairs in their room.

There were men walking around in suits in the theater. This made me feel important.

But there were also a ton of tiny kids in the theater. This made me want an Advil.

Look, I get that the movie was free. But you still need to keep your kids entertained. We had the World's Most Annoying family behind us. 5 kids. One looked to be about a year and a half. It kept screeching. The other kids kept pushing against our seats with their feet. Another one touched the back of my head.

Right before the movie began, a man in a suit brought out a camera. I might be in the audience. You know how they show previews of the movie with audience reactions? I'll be the person looking annoyed. Not because of the movie, but because the adults behind me weren't parenting.

The movie was hilarious, and I'm not just saying this because I got to see it for free. Steve Carell is in it, and who doesn't love Steve Carell? Jennifer Garner is also in it. I loved her in 13 Going on 30 and also, she's married Ben Affleck. Dick Van Dyke also showed up and I LOVE Dick Van Dyke. You'll see the entire Cooper family have one awful day. You'll see hijinks. Gags. And did I mention Steve Carell?

When it was over, Natalie said she wished she could have a bad day like that one.

Tommy wanted to know why the twelve-year-olds in the movie had cell phones and he didn't have one yet. But he said he enjoyed the movie.

Tom even ended up liking the movie, and he doesn't tend to like a lot.

After seeing the movie, I checked out the Alexander Study Guide. One of the questions was, "Have you ever celebrated during a difficult time?" Yup. Often. With Tom in the military, we have to celebrate when he's home because we never know when he'll be taken from us again.

The movie comes out on October 10th. So go see it.

I mean, look.

Steve Carell in a pirate shirt.

Why is he in one?

Go see the movie and find out.

  7. I'd go see it just because Steve is in it and I pretty much will see anything he's in because I love him...the previews also look hilarious. I don't know if I'll go to the theater to see it or just wait till it's on DVD since I get them from the store for free, but either way I can't wait!

  8. We saw a preview of it the other night on whatever other movie we were watching. My husband was laughing hysterically and then I remembered your original post about it. I'm pretty sure this is one we'll be watching at some point.
