5 Things I Don't Do On Christmas

Christmas is Friday. Yikes! I think I'm ready. The presents are wrapped. And I bought the ham.

There are things I won't do on Christmas though because...well, I want to enjoy the day too.

1. Wake up early.

Nope. I taught my kids to not bug me before 8.

2. Cook an elaborate breakfast.

I'm too busy cleaning up all the wrapping paper and getting the toys out of the boxes. Normally it's just cereal or cinnamon rolls from a can.

3. Clean everything at once.

You'll probably still find piles of wrapping paper and remnants of boxes hours later. I'll eventually get to it.

4. Cook an elaborate dinner.

I just hate cooking in general. I usually stick to simple things like ham. And green bean casserole. Being in the kitchen is just not for me. Luckily I'm going to have dinner with my parents and all I have to make is a green bean casserole.

5. Change out of my pajamas.

Well. This year I will because we're going to my parents house and I don't think they'd appreciate me coming to the table in my flannel pants. But in the past I have not.

Is there anything you won't do on Christmas?

  1. #2 gif---Supernatural! One of my fave episodes!

I won't let it go. We legit make a day of it! We don't get through all the presents until late afternoon!
Also. I think I may be drug to Star Wars this weekend too. Not quite as enthusiastic as Natalie about it...

  2. I don't make a huge breakfast either... mostly because we wake up, are home for a few hours then hit the road for a two hour drive to my parent's... so what's the point?? I can't wait until my kids are older and they won't bug us at 5am!!!!

  3. I subscribe to keeping things as simple as possible too. If we are not going anywhere on Christmas Day, I will do a big breakfast or brunch. If we have places to go: it's cereal; unless I thought to buy some cinnamon rolls or muffins the day before. No matter what is on the agenda: never hurry, never worry is my mantra for the day!! I refuse to rush through Christmas Day!!

  4. It's a lazy, lazy day for my family...! The most amount of effort made it to go to the movies and bring food into my mouth... HA

  5. Honestly, Christmas is the one day that I am up before my kids! I get too excited to sleep, lol. As for breakfast, it's more like brunch because we don't eat until 10 or 11.

  7. It's funny because there are so many of us and there's always someone doing one of these things and everyone else NOT!
I usually stay in my pajamas and I don't clean up very well.

  8. Oh we spend the whole day in our PJS! It's the best!

  9. Love your list! Normally I wouldn't get out of my pj's either, but this year we are traveling to see my mom, our daughter and grandbaby, and I can't wait, so they will be the only reason I am not in bed in pj's all day! LOL We went to see Star Wars on Saturday and it was really good. I can't wait to hear what you think about it. :)

  11. I am boycotting making the big dinner this year. I'm over my in-laws expecting it. They haven't even asked anything about it and we're only a few days away. They're just expecting I've got it all. They're going to have a big surprise when they find out, but I figure this is the only way I can get my point across that they need to ask instead of assume. I end this rant to my husband with a big "Merry Christmas TO ME!"

Anyway... we usually don't get out of our pajamas all Christmas, either. We're planning on seeing Star Wars as well. But if we're all in Star Wars pajamas... ;)

  12. I don't like to cook either, so luckily my husband takes on that task. My extended family always descends on my house, so I have to get dressed unfortunately!

  14. I won't leave the house. Just, no. I don't care how good the deals are, you'd have to pay a lot to go shopping.

  17. I will also not change out of my PJs! But that's because it's family tradition :) We have matching PJs for the holidays. Which is great for me...cause comfort over EVERYTHING!

  18. I think my OCD gets the best of me, even on Christmas! I clean up as we open the presents. As a child my dad always had the garbage bag ready and this stuck with me. Thankfully, I don't have to cook dinner. We have Christmas at my parents home and I am responsible for one dish and a dessert. I am blessed because I don't like to cook. haha

  19. I kept waiting for you to hit something that I wouldn't do but you didnt. My kids will wake me up around 7 or 8. Which is bad enough depending on what time I actually do go to bed. Breakfast isn't a big deal cereal, waffles no problem. I will make the dinner and I will change out of my pj's. I personally would rather not travel to other people's houses on Christmas Day. I would like to stay home.

  20. We always watch A Chalrie Brown Christmas. We love it when Lucie says "You're so stupid Charlie Brown."

  21. This pretty much covers it all, I take my sweet time with everything and don't rush it at all. Though we do get up early for church and once back it's PJ all day

  22. Such a cute post! At home during Christmas we don't woke up early but Mom can't help but make a breakfast (which turns to brunch). The rest, its a lazy day for us!

  23. It's like the mess is never ending, LOL. I don't cook an elaborate breakfast as well.

  24. LOL. I usually wake up early on a Christmas because we ALWAYS wake up early (usually all up by 7am). I usually make a Christmas-themed breakfast like Santa Clause pancakes or something cute but quick and after breakfast THEN the kids can open gifts. And unfortunately, we all have to change out of our pajamas because we have to hit the road to make our Christmas visits. I do clean up before we leave though because it drives me nuts coming back one to a messy house.

  25. I don't wake up early either! In fact, last year my boyfriend came to wake up and I practically bit his head off. I would love to spend the day in PJs, but we always have family to visit so that's a no go.
