Someone Stole My Daughter's Bike

Yup.

My daughter's bike was stolen.

She left it here.

On top of our driveway.

And when we woke up in the morning, it was gone.

We looked around the neighborhood for it. I even posted about it on the local pages with no luck.

Someone stole my little girl's bike. They walked up on our property and took what didn't belong to them. If my husband had caught them, they'd have had a gun in their face.

This makes a person feel violated. We have a security system indoors, but not out. This is changing now. We bought an outdoor camera, plus flood lights.

But seriously.

Who steals a KID bike? My husband bought it for her after a deployment. Who DOES that?

I believe in Karma, and hope whoever took it gets what is coming to them. A plague on their house and all of that.

For now, Natalie said she'll just have to remember the good times with the bike. Like when she rode around the neighborhood in her Darth Vader cape:

Have you ever had anything stolen off your property?

  3. In Texas, everyone thinks that anything is an open store for pilfering. People are stealing the wreaths off of front doors down here in Houston. At Christmastime, people steal the decorations (like blow-up décor) right off your front lawn. Even lawn mowers are not exempt. Say your husband's mowing the lawn and went in for a drink of water, comes out and said lawn mower is gone. It happens that quick. The only houses that don't have anything stolen are the ones that are a veritable junk yard. You'll see at least one of these homes in every neighborhood. They are usually the ones stealing everything because they are looking for any type of metal to recycle. It's how they live. Good luck and make sure you always put everything away and especially always, ALWAYS put your alarm on!!!

  5. My bike was stolen out of our front yard when I was a kid, too! It was super upsetting! Though, to be fair, I shouldn't have left it there -- lesson learned!

  8. Once I had a brand new bike stolen even if it was secured, who does that? Thieves I suppose, the world is full of them, sadly.

  9. That's awful! People these days are so freaking brazen. We don't leave anything but the hose outside at this point because too many people can't be trusted these days.

  10. It's a terrible, violated feeling. I don't have a gun but for times like that..
I think a BB gun is in order, in the least! My dad used to have a crossbow.
Sorry, I'm getting violent here. Ridiculous people in this world.

  14. I've had stuff stolen out of a locked shed that was chained up. Was it attached (chained) to anything?

  15. People are such a-holes! I am sorry that her bike was stolen -- that is a horrible feeling. We had a radiator stolen out of the back of our truck that was broken down. However, the joke is on whoever stole it because there was a huge bees nest inside of it.

  16. That's awful. There have been thefts in our neighborhood. I think someone got into my husband's van once. Even that was unsettling. I always worry about my kids' bikes getting stolen.

  17. Shameful! Thieving always makes me lose a little faith in the world :(

  18. That happened to us! We bought our kindergartner a brand new Barbie bike for her birthday with STREAMERS and TRAINING WHEELS, and somebody stole it off our apartment patio. I seriously just stood there for about 10 minutes with my mouth open and refused to believe it.

To top it off, just a few days before it got stolen we won a raffle at the library and they told us the prize was a new bike, so I said to give it to someone else because we already had one...

  20. I get that stealing a kids bike is really freaking low but a gun to their face???? That's horrific. I am glad I don't live in the US.
