Things People Probably Think When They See Me Run

I hate to run. I've mentioned this several times. I know some people love it. Some of those people are even my friends. They like to try and get me to join them for marathons and it's not going to happen.

I run because I like to eat food like this:

I won't give up eating food like that, and I'm too cheap to buy new clothes, so I run. I generally run through the neighborhood and people have glanced over at me a few times. Perhaps this is what they are thinking?

1. Why is her face bright red?
Answer: Because I'm in intense pain and just want to sit down and eat chocolate.

2. When was the last time she shaved?
Answer: 1997? Kidding. Maybe last week. Perhaps I shouldn't be in shorts, but this is Texas and it's hot. Also, why are you looking at my legs?

3. Why is she breathing so hard? It's not that difficult.
Answer: I'm breathing hard because I'm IN INTENSE PAIN.

4. She looks like a tomato with hair.
Answer: You can kiss my pale white ass. I am in intense pain.

5. Is she cursing?
Answer: I am. I curse because I'm in intense pain. I curse because I'm upset that my metabolism is going and that I have to run in the first place. It's not fair.

6. Her outfit doesn't even match.
Answer: Yup, I'm usually in purple shorts and a yellow top. Or a red top. I don't give a crap. All my "workout" clothes were bought on clearance. I'm not paying full price to do something I abhor.

7. Is that music from The Beach Boys coming from her headphones?
Answer: It is. I can't listen to much music of today or else my ears will bleed.

8. Is she diseased? Is all the sweat normal? Should I call 911? Answer: I am not diseased but in intense pain.

9. Are you okay?
Answer: Yes. I'm obnoxiously dramatic after I run. But hey, this is one outfit I have that actually matches. So there's that. (Someone actually asked if I was okay when she saw me doing this in my yard. Sometimes I behave like I've just finished defeating Darth Vader in long ass lightsaber fight.)

So, do you like to run?

  1. I don't particularly like to run but every so often I decide to take up running again and force myself to go out then spend the first few minutes remembering why I don't like it! If I stick at it and go a few times then gradually it gets a bit better. My running clothes also never match but who cares.

  6. I used to love it, but my knees hate it now so I'm a walker. You have to walk twice as long, running is faster ugh

    1. Yup, I used to just walk but then realized I wasn't burning enough calories :/ I prefer to fast walk.

  7. Oh I know. Running is insane. I like The Beach Boys! I listen to all sorts of stuff when I'm out exercising. Podcasts are my favorite. They keep me going. Check out Phil and Lisa Ruin the Movies. It's a good one!

  8. Hahaha I actually don't mind the running part; I just don't know how I like running outside... I need somewhere with a temperature control! Do you have a running playlist or is it strictly just the beach boys?

  11. "I'm not going to pay full price for something I abhor." Is my favorite sentiment of this whole thing. I feel the same way!

    What about
"Did she jump in a pool?
Nope, I don't glisten, I straight up sweat!

  12. LOL! This is definitely me when I run too! I don't have a ton of cute outfits so I don't look like a model but, I honestly workout just so I can eat more cakes and pies! LOL

  13. Oh my gosh. You have made me laugh this morning! Too funny. I hate to run and I'm so out of shape I'd probably have a heart attack if I tried. But I commend you!

  14. Ha ha, when I ran, that was pretty much me, too!

  15. Too funny! I do not like to run and if I did, I'd have the same sentiments. I also work out because I like to eat. Stupid metabolism.

  17. Not a runner here. I feel all flabby and all over the place. So I don't run. Ever.

  18. I don't run, but I do like to walk. I don't do it as often as I'd like but i try to a few days a week

  19. Girl, you crack me up!! I have avoided running here because of the heat and humidity but I think now I have to get back on it, even though I do work out on a regular basis... Damn being older and my metabolism halting to a grind. Sigh.

  22. Hello Dear,

Glad that you enjoy running! It's good for everybody to sweat and be active. Who cares what everyone else's thinks. It is your own life not theirs. Don't think too much, it only gives you negative energy.

  23. This is hilarious... I was the at the gym last night screaming obscenities in my head.... I did not want to be on that treadmill and the food commercials on the tv were not my friends.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Hahaha too cute!!!! I do t wanna e en know what people say when they see me run lol....

  25. Your post made me smile! And your obnoxiously dramatic lying down pic on the ground is hilarious and yeah! it looks like we need to call 911...lol!

  26. They come in Big Size now! Oh dear. I need those in my life.
That's also why I need to run.

  27. I'm not a runner yet but I'm working on it. I like to eat high calorie food so I also need to work out. I get really hateful when I exercise too. So people probably laugh at the scowl on my face or the weird pained facial expression I make. Which is great in a group exercise class with mirrors :( But I'm like you, why are you looking at me anyways?

    ReplyDelete
  28. I hate to run too and why are they looking at your legs. They should keep their eyes up.

  30. I don't run, I cycle. No matter how bad a day I think I am doing on the bike I'm always doing better than the lard arse on the sofa!

  31. I am literally LOLing here! That was laughing out loud, or maybe it was laughing out louding I don't know but that was FUNNY! I used to run when I was like 12 to 22 then I woke up! Pretty sure it was all a very long nightmare that caused me to run. I hike, sometimes, not as much as I should. I have a treadmill, it mostly holds clothes I have yet to hang up. Okay sometimes I do actually use it. I need to get more exercise, truly I do. I DO TRY. Good thing I take vitamins! I luckily do not have to do anything for chocolate. My husband works at a chocolate plant! I get it FREE and TONS of it. Now, are you jealous? LOL Seriously though - that is some good candy there totally worth running for.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I find this post funny! Haha. I am not a fun of running. When I run I do it 5 mins and the rest is just walking while talking to someone. LOL! And I love chocolates too, but I don't want to run so I'm fat.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Lol thanks for the giggle, much needed cause I'm in intense pain, lol. I don't run due to health issues but I remember when I did and I felt the same way.

    ReplyDelete
  34. haha i loved your picture on the grass...and yea i hate running too...am just a speed walker lol

    ReplyDelete
  35. I cant run i might die lol! But instead, i dance in our house. :)

  36. Hahahaha I love this! At least you are out there doing it so good for you girl! I am a terrible runner and avoid it all costs. If you see me running, run...something is chasing me!!!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Number one, who gives a crap what anyone thinks! THEY are the ones sitting on their butt meanwhile you are doing something about yours! Girl you look awesome, keep it up!

PS - I', slightly jealous because I can barely run to the bathroom without getting outta breath when I gotta pee so.......

    ReplyDelete
  38. Lol, that was hilarious! I'm afraid I am one of those people who has to run to be happy. I suppose the upside is that I can continue eating all those cheesecakes!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Ha! These are funny. It's so judgmental of them to think that way though. But some people really do. Lol. Running is one of my favorite exercises.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I used to enjoy running but haven't enjoyed it in many many years. Now - - not a chance. I will settle for a fast walk.

  44. Hahaa..What a fun post! I don't run but love to walk. If you cannot find someone to walk with, walk alone.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I run once a week, every sunday or saturday because I want an active and healthy life style. I also do a daily push ups, sit ups, squats, etc. for at least 30 minutes each day to be fit..

    ReplyDelete
  46. Running is tough and so is losing weight but it has to be done so we can eat more chocolate! It's okay if they say those things though, because no one really cares about what they think. Just keep doing your thing!

    ReplyDelete
  47. That is exactly what I looked like when I use to run. Hated ever minute of it but did it anyway. Now my knee is shot so walking is on the agenda. Much nicer walking.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I love that you don't care much about how you look, because really, you're going to sweat it all out anyway! It's up to people if they choose to judge your or not but it's a person running/jogging, not a model on the runway.

    ReplyDelete
  49. So funny and spot on. I used to run and felt the same way that you do. Loving doing yoga now:)

    ReplyDelete
  50. Good for you that you are making the effort to get exercise. A lot of people don't even try. It really is good for you. Plus purple is a good color for you ... like the running outfit.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Hey i like to be active and jogging. I like the last picture, it shows my condition too after a run. Its your life dont think too much wht others think.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Loved the post. I can see your grit and determination winning against the intense pain. I usually do a mix of brisk walking interspersed with running, this eases things a bit.

    ReplyDelete
  53. This is too funny. I do not like to run at all. I have never been a fan,

    ReplyDelete
  54. This is a funny and such a true post on running! Anyone who doesn't run should not be asking why you're breathing hard! I can only imagine what people are asking themselves when they see people running!

    ReplyDelete
  55. I've been running 3 miles every time I go outside to run. Here in New York, the weather hasn't been as cooperative as I'd like, but I run outside when I can. I'm training for a 5K in June for ovarian cancer awareness and education, which I did 5 years ago. I hate running on a treadmill, but I run a mile each time I go to the gym to lift. I'm going to mix it up next week and concentrate on run strengthening exercises too (core, hips, legs). I truly loved your post because a lot of it resonates with me!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Haha this made me laugh I have to admit I can't remember when the last time was I went any faster than a slow plod!

    ReplyDelete
  57. LOL! I hate running. But I'll do it in the spring, summer, maybe fall...never winter here in Northern Colorado. It usually starts off as a run...then when I get around the block I walk, then when I get back to where people have seen me again, I change it back to a run so they think I've been running the whole time. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  58. Hahahaha. I don't run, but it's medical reasons. I am highly allergic to all the pine trees that are around every where you look. I tried, and came away with an awful, almost emergency room needed, allergic reaction.

    ReplyDelete
  59. You know the memes that say if you see me running, you should run because something terrible is chasing me? Yep, that is me and running.

    ReplyDelete
  60. You're either there to run or look cute in the outfit. But I don't trust someone who is both. Seems suspicious.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I love this so so much! I hate ever minute I run but I keep at it!

    ReplyDelete
  62. I don't run. My doctor does not advice me to do that. (I am so lucky!) Even if I could run, I won't. I am afraid my knees would give in. My mom is so different. She won a 5K marathon when she was 49 years old. Bagged the gold medal for the 45-50 age bracket.

    ReplyDelete
  63. I love such posts. Thanks for the putting a smile on my face! And yes, keep running.. Btw, that last picture is really cute! :P Literally how i fall on the ground after running..

    ReplyDelete
  64. Haha! This is too funny. But at least you're out running. Way to go!

    ReplyDelete
  65. I do not like running, but I know there are really good benefits to it. I don't care what other people say if I am in your place too. lol!

    ReplyDelete
  66. I positively hate running so I don't. I do workout though. I hate that too, but I do it so I can eat chocolate like you :)

    ReplyDelete
  67. Hahaha you're hilarious. I love that last photo. If I do that in my yard, my neighbors would run and check if I'm okay lol.

    ReplyDelete
  68. This is so funny! At least you're running! I don't run but I do exercise regularly. This has been a very entertaining post!

  69. Lol is she okay really had me busting up. I am not a pretty runner either.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Oh girl you have nothing to be worried about. These are just the normal sayings when you hate running; like me! LOL

    ReplyDelete
  71. I'm sure if people saw me run, if i ran, they'd think the same thing about me... Lol.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Girl you are funny. I love reading your post. Chuckle chuckle, I am not a runner unless someone is chasing my a--.

    ReplyDelete
  73. You are cracking me up! People probably think the world is ending when they see me run because that's the only reason I'd be running.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I am pretty sure i could have written this myself. This is why I go on my runs too when I do (not often now because I'm pregnant) but pretty sure these are all me. - Jeanine

    ReplyDelete
  75. At least you do run! I can't even run to catch the bus, that's how bad I am. I can however do other physical activities happily, just not running.

    ReplyDelete
  76. I would be like you if I were running. Honestly, the knee surgery plus the arthritis would never allow me to be a runner like that. I even have a hard time on the tread mill at the gym. I have to go to the elliptical because I don't have the same issues on that.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I'd rather jog or have a fast paced walk. I like to take in my surroundings and breath in the fresh air. I'd happily walk two miles rather than running one mile. I like to do thing at a slower pace. Thanks for sharing, your blog always cracks me up!

    ReplyDelete
  78. I don’t run and I barely exercise and it’s so bad because like you I also like to eat things like that. I need to be better but I still won’t run lol

    ReplyDelete
  79. I am pretty sure people say the same about me. Running is not my thing at all.

    ReplyDelete
  80. I don't think I've ever run. Once I tried and my knees where shaking like maracas.

    ReplyDelete
  81. LMFAO! I don't run at all, even though I probably should. I get halfway around the block and feel like I am dying.

    ReplyDelete
  82. This post made me laugh so much, chaned my mood for the better. Nice that you are running! :-)

    ReplyDelete
  83. This was hilarious. I would like to run better!

    ReplyDelete
  84. I don't run anymore, to hard on my joints according to the doctor. I'll take any excuse. Walking is right up my alley. I can talk and do other stuff while walking that you can't do when running.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Nope, no running here BUT I volunteer annually for the local marathon and several fun runs. Easy way for me to support some of my fave charities without passing out

    ReplyDelete
  86. That was hilarious! I don't run because I feel the same way about being in intense pain, although I should because I like chocolate too!

    ReplyDelete
  87. OMG, I LOVE THIS POST!! I can't run! It's not in my genes! I used to jog and got shin splints so I quit. Now I'm 60 and I walk dogs as a part time job so that is most of my exercise. I need to do more but running, not going to happen! lol

    ReplyDelete
  88. Oh my gosh this is SO funny! This sounds just like me! I exercise regularly but I seriously don't enjoy it. If it is something our bodies need to do you would think it would be easier and more fun LOL.

    ReplyDelete
  89. Ahahahaha. That was such an awesome read. It really made me laugh. A lot.
NO! I do NOT like to run. At all.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Good for you running though girl! I just hate it too much to do it. Lol!

    ReplyDelete
  91. I love this! It's like the realest post I have read in a long time. I, too hate to run, but I eat yuck so I have no choice.

    ReplyDelete
  92. This is the funniest thing ever. Mostly because you totally described me. If we lived closer to one another, I would totally run along side of you and give people twice as much to laugh at lol.

    ReplyDelete
  93. I turn bright red too. I'm not in pain, just horribly out of shape. I hate running and never do it.

    ReplyDelete
  94. You will never catch me running. I despise it. However, I will do extra squats on those yucky eating days. With Christmas goodies right around the corner, I see a lot of squats in my future.

    ReplyDelete
  95. You are so funny! I think these same things when I go running, which is honestly not that often. I tend to go on more brisk walks. Enjoy your run and your yummy foods!!

  101. Lol, I used to run in mix match clothes too. And turn bright red as well. I had to quit running after my spine collapsed and I had (failed) back surgery. It took a long time for my legs to quit aching from wanting to run and being used to running.

    ReplyDelete
  102. omg you are so funny! I laughed out loud. Your post is so relatable, I could do a similar post about exercising (except walking, I love walking... at normal pace hahaha), writing, cooking or small talks... thanks for the laugh. Keep it up
