So, okay, Bath & Body Works has this candle sale every year in December. Their $24.95 3 wick candles drop down to a low price. Last year they were 8.95 and this year they were $9.50. Most years I shop the sale online. And if you do this, you MUST get on when the sale starts, which is normally 11 PM EST. Candles go fast. If you shop online though, you can't use any other coupons, plus you have to pay for shipping.
I wanted to save more, so I decided to go to the store. I mean, they built one 5 minutes from me.
Stores open EARLY. Mine opened at 5 AM; I heard others opened at 4 AM. I got there right at 5 AM.
I'm kidding.
I'm not about to wake up at the ass crack of dawn for candles, sorry. They are pretty decent candles, but not wake-up-at-5-AM candles.
If you want a specific scent, then yes, get there early.
If you aren't as picky, get there at 9 AM like I did.
Yes there was a line to get inside the store, but it moved quickly. I waited maybe 10 minutes and the workers out front were incredibly polite.
The store was a bit crowded, but not uncomfortably so. Well. My husband would say it was too crowded for him, but he's a military cop who freaks out if people are behind him, so...
Also, a lot of men don't get the candle sale. My husband didn't. He kept saying, "What, a candle sale? Why?"
And some men in the store would be like, "What's with these scent names? How do you know what to get? Debbie, what about this merlot one? No? What do you mean you need the scent to smell clean? Could you just pick some out so we can get in line and go?"
Honestly, leave the men at home if they don't get it. I left my husband at home.
Some scents were gone. I heard one lady ask about a strawberry shortcake flavor and the worker said that one was gone by 6 AM, and they had a TON, but this one family bought up nearly their entire stash. Okay then.
Also leaves seemed to be a popular scent, that one was also gone.
But I still found a bunch that I liked. And some that cleared my sinuses. Like:
It smelled like burnt hot cocoa to me. Not my taste. And the Rome scent was pizza, which threw me off.
I was like this:
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE pizza, but not in candle form.
It took a bit to find the candles I liked. I was like this Baby Yoda:
I decided on 5 candles, because I was going to use my $15 off $40 coupon:
If you're lucky, you get coupons in the mail. I used to not, but suddenly I did. Maybe because a store opened 5 minutes from my house.
You might be wondering how to transport all those candles. They give you a candle holder when you enter the store:
And yes, the line to check out was wrapped around the store BUT there were 6 cashiers so it moved fast.
Would I shop in store again? Yup. It wasn't overly chaotic. No one was hoarding all the candles (well, I guess except that family who took all the strawberry shortcake ones) and everyone had manners. (Except the husbands who didn't seem to get what was happening. "Seriously, these candles aren't that great," I overhead another one say. "But my wife is obsessed I guess.")
So which ones did I get?
These:
I am a sucker for the pumpkin scents. The others just smelled nice to me. Some I'm keeping; others will be gifts for teachers and friends.
So do you shop the Bath & Body Works candle sale?

ReplyDeleteI am in love with scented candles. Basically I love it when a room smells good so anything that makes it smell nice is amazing for me. I actually just bought a lot of scented candles to give as gifts to some of my friends. The scents were so addictive, I could buy them all for myself.
ReplyDeleteFood. I cannot imagine the smell of food on candles. I think that's gross too.
I didn't realize Bath & Body Works had a candle sale! I always try to shop their after Christmas sale when they have that massive sale on Body Wash.
ReplyDeleteI never even knew they had a candle sale. I do love their candles, so now I have to check it out.
ReplyDeleteI am a big fan of Bath and Body Works and also of great scents. I need to take advantage of their sales and those candles look perfect.
ReplyDeleteThose candles are massive! I love candles but they are always so expensive. It's so amazing that you get to have this sale once a year. I would be curious about how the limoncello one smells like.
ReplyDeleteI didn't go buy any candles this year. I love their candles and the pumpkin ones are my favorite but I had to stop myself this year! lol

ReplyDeleteWow that looks awesome, we don't have shops like this near me!
ReplyDeleteLove scented candles! I picked up a Christmas one today from local supermarket!
My niece loves this store. She loves their candles and has way to many of them.
ReplyDeleteI love taking advantage of their sales because their regular prices are on the high side. I always stock up on a few of my favorite scents !!

ReplyDeleteSweet cinnamon pumpkin sounds so yummy! I'll have to get it
ReplyDeleteI love the smell of Bath and Body Works candles, but I don't love crowds. Shopping online is definitely the way to go for me.
ReplyDeletegreat bargain but thanks to having 3 cats, I do the Yankee Candle or BBW plug in scents.. they're safer.. I wouldn't line up at 5AM for chocolate! LOL I'm like you.. 9 or 10AM! I love their plug in scents, room sprays and the hand soaps. I tend to go a little overboard when they have the soap sales! I get those coupons.. not sure how since my closest one is 1/2 hour away but I love that store!
ReplyDeleteScented candles are really good and could make you feel relaxed. This is such a great candle sale. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThis post is hilarious hahaha I totally get your husband and your baby Yoda meme. Unfortunately, I missed this sale :( I was not aware, but I'll definitely shop next year.
ReplyDeletePizza candle? No thanks! But Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin is my all-time favorite.
ReplyDeleteWowwwww. I never realized how intense this event was, hahaha. Props to you (that's awesome that it's 5 minutes away though!). I work right next to a mall, so I may partake in this next year if I end up finishing off my candle collection! I need to acquire a coupon like that! :P
ReplyDeleteI happened to be at the mall during this event and witnessed the madness. I didn't even know what was going on. I'm not really a fan of their candles though. I've always felt the smelled too artificial. Maybe I just picked some duds?
ReplyDeleteWow, your candles are gorgeous! We don't have that store in the UK but we do have Yankee Candle stores which are always super busy at this time of year. Love that pic of baby Yoda haha.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter goes to this sale every year with a list for her and one for me. I can't walk in there because of all of the different scents. I start sneezing and watery eyes so I just tell you what I want and she gets. Win-win! (Rena)
ReplyDeleteI've heard about it from a beauty blogger. I love scented candles, but I didn't get any. Glad you got you some.
ReplyDelete-LYNNDEE
I am not quite sure if I would appreciate pizza in candle form either. This reminds me though, I'd love to get new candles for our home!
ReplyDeleteI didn't go to this sale, but I do love candles. I know my sister got some because she really loves them too. It was such an amazing sale though.
ReplyDeleteAmber, I almost believed you when you said that you got to the store at 5 am. I'm glad that you found a variety of candles that you liked.
ReplyDeleteIt has been ages since I have been to Bath & Body Works. It sounds like you found the perfect selection!
ReplyDeleteI did hear about this from some friends! Sounds like you got some good deals. These would make great gifts!
ReplyDeleteI went and the store was crazy. I wanted the Pink Fairy Gumdrop Candle but it was long gone. The lines were so long, as was the wait, that I put my things back and shopped online.

This will save you time by helping you avoid making many trips to your shed to get tools. If you will need more tools than you can carry, you could consider using a wagon or a bucket to hold all of your tools. play bazaar
