Should You Take A Baby To Walt Disney World?

We love Disney World. We went for the very first time when my son was 6 and my daughter was 1. Some people were curious how a baby would do. Heck, I was curious on how a baby would do. My daughter Natalie wasn't the quietest baby. If she was upset, she'd let you know without hesitation.

I worried she might freak out over masked characters.

But.

Natalie LOVED the characters. In fact, she wanted to go to Tigger and I was like, "Wow, hey, stay with Mommy."

She also very much wanted to go with Eeyore. She kept reaching out to him and going, "Hi? Hi?"

Did she have meltdowns? No! I think the key to that is to make sure the baby can rest. We had a stroller and she'd nap in there. We would also return to the room during the afternoons and come back to the parks in the evening. We went with other family members so sometimes we left Natalie with them so we could enjoy the parks with our son.

People might say, oh, babies won't remember. Why waste the money?

And yes, while they might not remember, they'll always have the pictures to look back on.

Should you take a baby to Disney World?

I say yes. What about you?

  1. Gabbie's first time at Disney was when she was 17 months, Zachary was 6 months. He got really sick though, which was sad. Simon didn't get to go till he was 2!

  2. We took a 3-week-old on vacation once. It wasn't planned but that's how it worked out. We have pictures of her sleeping at various tourist attractions. lol So, I say, yes, especially since you allowed down time for her to rest. :)

  9. I say yes to if you live nearby and can afford it. I don't live anywhere close to Walt Disney World and figured that I would wait until my 5 kids are old enough to enjoy it and spend that one time making the trip there.

  10. It looks like she had so much fun! We live too far away and have too big a family to be able to pull a trip to Disney off, unfortunately.

  11. I think my babies will do well at Disney. They are 14, but they're still my babies.

  12. I think naps are the key to enjoying time anywhere with little ones. I don't blame Natalie for wanting to go with Eeyore, I love Eeyore!

  13. I might want to wait and go until the youngest is around 2 or 3. Going with some family members would be great too so they can help.

  14. I think we experience WDW in a different way each time we go. So go often and take a lot of pictures!

  15. I took an 8 month-old and it was perfect. I just made sure to take enough breaks that she didn't get overwhelmed and overtired. Of course, we had to go back when she got older because she didn't remember anything. But she had a great time.

  16. Yes on all of this! I second guesses myself over and over again when it came to my kids going to Disney. We ended up waiting until my youngest was 3 before we went. I wish we had gone sooner!

  17. I haven't taken my kids to Disney land. may be next year. They are not babies though. Yes we can take babies, but travelling with two without having any help from family we found difficult. Natalie is really cute baby.

  22. I definitely agree with the pictures being enough even if they can't remember. Plus I believe they do remember when they have photos as reference and its always a nice surprise when they are not as scared or startled as you thought they might be!

  23. I say yes too! Even if they don't exactly remember the experience they will still see the pictures and know the love, excitement and joy the trip brought!

  25. If the parents have the money and they think it's worth it, why not.

  26. We took our daughter when she was 3. She remembers some of it but we have a lot of pictures so that's probably why. It was definitely more fun when she was older.

  27. Your kids are so cute when they were little. I also say yes. Babies won't remember but you can see them enjoying when they are in a fun place. Plus, pictures. They'd have pictures to look back to.

  31. I think Disney has something for everyone. Animal Kingdom was where we brought the kids at this age. They loved it.

  32. What child would not love Disney? They are geared to have something for everyone, however I do think that age 5 is the perfect age for retaining the memories.

  34. I've never been to Disney before. I have always wanted to go though. I would really love to bring my kids. I know they'd love it there.

  35. i have personally wanted to wait until my son was old enough to remember and have fun

  36. A stroller is a must for younger children. It's too much walking otherwise for them. Plus this way they can sneak in a nap. They can still have a fun time when young.

  37. While I wouldn't take an only child to Disney as a baby, I've taken some of my kids to Disney when they were babies. It worked out fine because we had realistic expectations and scheduled some naptime/pool time for the older kids so all 7 of us had fun.
