Hey, It's Okay

I got this idea from Glamour magazine. You can link up any day of the week. All you have to do is make a list of what you're okay about. Simple! Please do not link up a post that has nothing to do with Hey, It's Okay. It's rude and I'll delete the link.

HEY, IT'S OKAY....

.....to have shed a few tears when I found out school was canceled for the rest of the year. I figured it was coming, but still. I feel for my son, who is a senior. He had some teachers that he loved.

.....to hope that our Disney World trip for late June isn't canceled. I called and asked if I should cancel and was told to wait until May to see what was happening.

.....to feel for Natalie, whose school play is on hold. They were supposed to perform last week. It's been switched to either the summer or early fall now.

.....to have wanted to curse when my son's laptop stopped working. This is NOT the time for that to happen.

.....to have finally found toilet paper! Remember I've been searching for it for WEEKS now. We were okay thanks to friends and family giving us some rolls. I knew Target would come through for me!

  1. I can't even imagine being in senior year during all of this.... I hope the school districts will find ways to still make graduation exciting and rewarding feeling for all of the students...such an important milestone!
Also crossing my fingers that your Disney plans can still come true! 🤞✨

  2. I have a concert I'm dying to go to in September and I'm hoping it isn't cancelled. I also have a cruise in February 2021. I know it's far away and I'm trying not to worry but all these stupid protests are making me feel like things are going to get so much worse before they get better.

  5. I'm glad you finally found that toilet paper! I feel for your son too. It would definitely be hard to be a senior in all of this.

  6. All of these things are ok, especially the one about toilet paper! Luckily we have plenty again.

  7. My brother is a senior also, and now that graduation is up in the air is sad also. It is such a big milestone in his life. I am so happy you finally found toilet paper.

  8. Its okay to stay in pjs until noon. It's also okay to dress up to go to the store, that is a special occasion these days :)

  9. We appreciate the little things like toilet paper at times like these. The whole topsy turvy school system is so tough on all kids especially graduates.

  10. YAY to finding loo roll! I can't imagine what it is like for kids who are at the end of their school year and will miss the goodbyes.

  11. I really was sad that schools won't be returning. It was my daughters kindergarten year and I felt like her first experience was just ripped away from her. I quickly came to realize that all the students who are graduating are in a whole different situation and it sucks. I am sorry for your son! But there will be a positive to all this like eventually finding TP lol thank you for sharing!

  12. I had to cancel 2 May mini getaways. It is definitely okay to not be okay! Thanks for sharing.

  14. My kids are missing their sports and other events. It is so good to see store shelves full again

  15. It's so sad that the seniors are missing out on so much. Our road trip is supposed to start on May 28th and we're hoping that we can still go.

  16. Oh, what a breath of fresh air to say "HEY, IT'S OKAY!" because you're right. Stop and really think about it...if you're lucky enough to not be sick or struggling financially, it really is ok :)

  17. I cried my first day of no school, I am a substitute teacher and I was going to be with my favorite class for a whole month- I was so excited! Then I cried one night thinking of the possibility that we may not go back to school at all and that I would be out of a job till Fall. It did end up happening but now instead of thinking of myself I have been feeling for my students that school was their safe haven.

  18. I felt like life was suddenly put on hold because of this pandemic. Even I have been fiddling and trying to be productive on a daily basis, frustrated sometime, buy hey! It's okay. :)

  19. Oh man, the toilet paper shortage is a real thing!! I also keep hoping we will be able to go on a trip we have scheduled for the end of may/beginning of June. Seems unlikely but sometimes it just helps to have hope!

  20. Our schools haven't officially canceled yet. Sorry this happened to your son during his senior year.

  21. Yep! Schools in Texas have officially closed. It doesn't affect us much as homeschoolers, but I'm grateful that my friends who it does affect are all healthy.

  22. I'm with you on hoping that a vacation isn't cancelled. We booked a week long camping trip the first full week in July. Right now the provincial parks have cancelled all bookings for April, and I'm sure May is coming as the provincial 'state of emergency' has extended into May. I'm just hoping that it all opens up before we're supposed to go! I managed to snag a waterfront site that people literally fight over booking each year!

  23. Hang in there! It was hard to find TP here too (in NYC) but they've been restocking.

  24. I think it is ok for seniors to be mad about losing out, but it is ok for the ones who aren't finding it all that bad.

  25. Feeling so many of the same things. My daughters play she worked so hard on was postponed, recitals cancelled and all the things.

  26. My heart goes out to you and your kids. Senior year of high school was such a special time for me and I'm so sorry your son had to miss out on his last months with his friends!

  27. These are crazy times! I think everyone is on an emotional roller coaster these days.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I am dying for things to get back to some sort of normal. But I know how much harder it is for the kids. May things start to swing back around soon.

  29. It's nice to hear that you have finally found a toilet paper! Finally! It's okay to be sad that schools are cancelled. But let's just accept everything for now for our safety.

  30. After this, there will be a new normal. I hope that people will learn a lot from this period, and apply it when everything gets better. It's okay not to be okay now, because everything will workout for the common good.

  31. For the rest of the year? Or the school year?! I knew it was cancelled for the remainder for the school year here but I haven't heard anything else.
It's such a trying time for everyone at the moment. x

  32. Love the honesty here. The laptop quitting would have pushed me over the edge. Like really? Just when you need it most and do not need to have to buy another one!!!!!

  33. I am so sorry for your son! Being a senior right now is the worst. I cannot imagine what he's going through. And your daughter's play being cancelled is the worst too! I also hope you get to go to Disney!

  34. These are all so relatable. We are in limbo for sure! I hope your son is hanging in there, between losing graduation and having computer issues.

  35. It is ok that I couldn't have my holiday during Easter due to the pandemic as safety comes first but its not OK for airlines to break the law and refuse to give a refund ! I am hoping that schools open by June at least!

  36. Glad you finally found toilet paper . Super relatable post!!! thank you for sharing this.

  37. I hope that you'll go to Disney World. It's the best way to forget this period!

  38. I am reading this post on a very hard day. Thanks for reminding me that it is ok! I really. hope tomorrow is better because today really sucked!

  39. I bought tickets to Backstreet boys in July...Crossing my fingers that I can still go. You're right, it is okay to cry. Times are scary right now.

  40. I do hope everything will be okay come June. Yay! for the toilet paper you found!

    ReplyDelete
  41. You are right, it's all okay and until things settle down. It's about taking a deep breathe every moment and doing what we can with what we currently have. Hang tight!!
