Surprise! He's Back From Guam

When my husband told me he was going to deployment training in Guam, I was like, "What?" Mostly because there's a base nearby that has deployment training so I assumed he'd go there. But no, the military rarely makes sense, and he was sent on the long trip to Guam for two weeks.

It's never easy to say goodbye. But at least it was only two weeks. And he was still able to text. We just had to adjust to the time change. Guam is 15 hours ahead of us. So I would always check before I sent a text to make sure it wasn't 3 AM.

Tom said Guam was pretty. It rained daily though. And it was hot. The humidity was terrible. But you got moments like this:

During deployment training you eat a lot of MREs. He didn't really get to experience the fresh seafood that Guam has. He wasn't there on vacation.

Even though his moment living on Guam was brief, he still enjoyed his time. The beach was beautiful. He didn't get to relax on it, but he could see it.

When he got home he was obviously jet lagged. He brought back these, which are delicious.

He will be deploying this summer. We will have to say goodbye again. But the good news is this should be his final deployment before he leaves the military.

Have you ever been to Guam?

  2. So glad he is back home. Deployment is rough but alas, its the military life. Guam is much like Florida in the summer. Daily rains and high humidity.

  3. I have some friends who live in Guam and it is very pretty, but much too hot for me. A beach view is always nice! The chocolate covered macadamia nuts look delicious!

  11. The military is strange at times when they do training exercises. At least he was only gone a short amount of time and hopefully he doesn't have to deploy again with everything going on in this world.
