Harry & Meghan Netflix Documentary Thoughts

I mean, I knew the British media was cruel after witnessing what they did to Princess Diana. They tore that poor woman apart, unapologetically, so they could sell their papers. If someone is different from the rest of the royal family, it seems they are a target. Automatically. And I do not understand it.

Enter Meghan Markle. She started dating Prince Harry and at first things seemed to be okay. The media wasn't too horrible. And then when she started to get popular, the media got cruel. It was like Princess Diana all over again. You'd think the media would have learned a lesson. One could argue that it was because of their pursuits that it is the reason why the princess died. If they weren't trying to get away from the press so quickly, would the accident have happened?

I watched the Meghan & Harry documentary on Netflix. I have seen the negative reviews on it. People say they whine too much. They're all, "If they want privacy, why are they doing this?" Well, to get THEIR views out because the British media likes to spin things. Duh. Do I feel for the family? Absolutely. It's a shame Harry and William aren't close. But to put the blame on Meghan & Harry? No. It was the royal family who would give false stories to the media. Remember when Harry & Meghan did the Oprah interview? It wasn't a coincidence that a story of her bullying the royal staff came out at the same time because the royals knew the awful crap they did and said and wanted to do anything to make Meghan look bad.

It's time for the institution to change. The institution, by the way, is what the royal family is referred to as in the documentary. Everyone is serious. Everyone feels like you have to be strong and can't show emotions. Meghan wanted to get help for her mental health. They said nope, what would that look like?

Um. It would look like SOMEONE IS TRYING TO GET HELP. It's not weakness.

Meghan talks about how her life was threatened by many people. So many racist comments were written about her. Some journalists were called out and they'd be all, haha, it's not what I mean, haha. Many of them claim they are not racist at all. Um, yeah, some of the stuff they've written is 100% racist. Nice try.

Her child's life was threatened and was called an abomination. Honestly, I am amazed at how Meghan  and Harry didn't go off then. If someone threatened my kid, I'd have lost it in public. I'm talking curse word, middle finger flying, a complete meltdown.

Harry talks about how he was blocked from seeing his grandmother. Yes, she was the Queen, but she was also a GRANDPARENT. And these people were like, nope, you can't see her.

I think it's time for the British media to knock it off. (America isn't much better at times!) I imagine many of the people working for the media have family members who struggle with their mental health. Maybe they should take a step back and realize that their words hurt and in some cases can cause the public to want to take the life of an innocent person. Or hell, cause the person being written about to want to take their life. (Meghan did at one point.)

I doubt they will change though. Because, you know, cruelty pays. It also can kill but no matter if their wallets are filled. I do hope karma comes after the people who write abominable things.

Speaking of abominable things, apparently a guy wrote something terrible in The Sun recently. And this was the response from The Global Community of the Commonwealth and International Nations:

Will the Royal family speak out? Probably not. They've been silent so far and naturally people are praising them for their class. I don't know, if someone in my family were talking about being bullied and treated horribly, I'd want to comment. If a member of my family was viciously being verbally attacked, I'd speak out. It would be great if the Palace would say something like, "We would hate for something to happen to them as it did to Diana, so we're publicly speaking out against the tabloids and hope in time we can mend the rift between Harry and William." I don't know. SOMETHING. Change the institution! It's time.

Anyhow, I am glad Harry and Meghan got away because it was clear the Royals were not there to help. They want to keep things rigid and cold even though many members of the family over the years clearly needed mental help. I mean. Remember this guy?

I doubt Harry and Meghan will ever see this, but I am happy they are thriving with their children in peace. Maybe in time things will get better with the institution. I mean, never say never. One can hope.

Have you seen the documentary yet? All six episodes are streaming on Netflix and you can preorder Harry's book called Spare here

  1. Honestly, I think that the lifestyle of a royal family restricts even simple things as we saw in The Crown. I have been surrounded by comments of Meghan about her being a divorced woman and that her marriage with Harry wouldn't fit the image of the royal family as the monarch is the head of the church. What I learned is that we end to know both sides of the story and understand that even though the royal family is restricted by protocols, they should try and become a real family that can represent the family values of the nation. I won't deny that I am a monarchist, but if the royal family doesnt recognize their errors and adapt, maybe the UK might disappear as we know it today. Everyone deserves respect and a fair treatment.

  5. I watched this documentary too, it was very eye opening for both good and bad reasons. But I’m still happy I watched it. So much was unearthed and I feel like that can take the couples lives in a new, lighter direction so long as people are willing to hear them out. Thank you for sharing this!

  6. I am with you on this in terms of how Princess Diana was treated etc.... but have no real desire to watch this one. I understand there are issues I am sure with the family but I think it is horrible that she has ruined an entire family... I just don't get wanting to divide the family as she has done. That is really my big issue and then to make money doing show like these is kind of icky too.

  9. I'm going to sign up for a month of Netflix so I can see this. I love Harry and Megan. I love celebrity gossip. Because it pulls us out of our own humdrum lives. But when you take a second to realize the cost to their lives - the loss of privacy because how much $$$ paps can make from a single photo or video, that alone is horrible. But when stories turn negative, it's not ok. Clickbait, lies, drama, it's all for money and power. And that's human nature. I doubt it'll ever change. It's really sad.

  10. I haven't watched the documentary yet and don't know if I will. I must admit I now don't trust most of what is said in the media, it's all manipulated to influence. I agree, they are doing the same as they did to Diana. I'm guessing the be kind movement is officially over.
