Priscilla Presley & My Kids Rock

So this has been a whirlwind of a week.

We saw Priscilla Presley.

Not on the streets or anything, but at an event called An Evening With Priscilla Presley. My daughter Natalie found out about it. She loves Priscilla. We saw the movie Priscilla and Natalie absolutely loved the fashion in the film that were obviously based on what Priscilla actually wore.

Not to mention that Priscilla always seemed down to earth, even when dating Elvis. She never bragged about it. She could have been like, "I am with one of the most famous men in America," but she kept quiet, which is one reason she says Elvis fell in love with her. We couldn't take pics or videos when she was speaking, so I got this when she was finished:

It was a lovely evening. She told stories about growing up and yes, about her life with and after Elvis. I felt for her when she spoke about her losses: her grandson Ben took his own life and her daughter Lisa recently passed as well. And of course she lost Elvis, but she still speaks with such poise and grace.

She did take some questions from the audience and Natalie actually raised her hand, which shocked me as normally she's pretty shy. But she is a fan of Priscilla and wanted to ask what it was like going from being a normal teen girl to suddenly be thrown in the spotlight when the media caught wind that she was dating Elvis. So many people raised their hand and she only took a few questions and she didn't get picked, but she didn't mind. She says it was thrilling seeing Priscilla in front of her.

Bonus, afterwards we got to see some of the lights downtown and lots of people asked where Natalie got her jacket from. Goodwill. 6.99.

But before that, my son Tommy had a screening of his short film that he made. He's in college for film studies, so he's learning about making movies and all of that. (Curious on the film? It's here.)

I'm so proud. He's incredibly talented and I am glad he's learning a bunch in college.

Then Natalie had her play A Christmas Carol.

Oh, and you could buy ads in the program so I sent this in:

The play ran for 3 days and went fabulous. She's the one in the pink, far left, as Mrs. Cratchit:

She's going to miss it. She always does when a play ends. She never know whats to do with herself because she's used to staying after school until 7. Suddenly she's home when it's still light out and is like, "Now what?" (I'm like, "Uh, homework?")

I am always thrilled that each of my kids have such a wonderful imagination.

We are looking forward to the holiday break. Natalie still has 2 weeks of school but Tommy is finished and will be home for a month! We have all sorts of fun activities planned.

So here's to a fantastic December. It's already starting off splendidly.
