Happy Thanksgiving?

Help!

How in the world am I supposed to make Thanksgiving dinner when the second I turn around, Natalie is DRAWING on the furniture?

Tom is at work. He doesn’t return until 7 so I’m on my own.

Natalie, sweetheart, PUT THE MARKER DOWN!

Excuse me.

I had to just take the marker from her. I thought I got them all but no, she has a secret marker stash somewhere.

I just know the second I go to prepare the stuffing, she’s going to pull another one out.

Hey Mom, how about some purple walls?

Wait.

What’s that smell?

Does anyone want to cook for me?

Tommy keeps showing me his things that he put together. He’s always randomly created things. I’ve always appreciated them but on Thanksgiving, when his latest creation is being shoved under my nose, it’s hard to be impressed. My hand was deep in the turkey, searching for the neck bag and Tommy stuck his toy in my face.

“Look! It’s Santa’s sled!” Tommy shouted.

I could not find the neck bag. Where was the neck bag? Did it really matter if I pull it out or not? I could just be all, “Stay away from that area. You’ll probably find a cooked neck bag.”

“It’s Santa’s SLED! Did you HEAR ME?”

“I heard you. You did a fantastic job!” I said my hand still in the turkey. WHERE WAS THE NECK BAG?

I eventually found it.

Now I have to go make the stuffing.

Wish me luck.

  3. Good luck!

It's hard to cook with the kiddos around.

At least it sounds like you're making some interesting memories.

  4. I cooked the bag in the turkey for 4 hours before I called my mom and said I couldn't find one and she told me to go find it so that we were not eating plastic. So, we pulled a gizzards bag out of a turkey that had been in the oven for 4 hours, found the bag and stuck the turkey back in the oven. No one is sick yet....

  9. I'm thinking graffetti artist... She's gonna tag all the railroad cars and buildings in the state (possibly before being toilet trained - astonishing huh?)

I hope you hung in there - and that you, Tom, Tommy, and Natalie enjoyed a Turkey without magic marker scribbling on it - and with Santa's sled on the table.

  10. after our first was born we banned all markers from the house. actually, we only allow colored pencils. they can't be eaten and they don't melt in the dryer

  17. We almost left the giblet bag in the bird. My husband actually said that he thought they may have forgotten to put it back in there. I said keep looking, it's there. It was. It was disgusting, too. Happy Thanksgiving!

My sons used to fight over the actual neck (apparently the meat is tender?!ewww) They managed to make their pregnant aunt physically ill once...

  25. Every year the neck bag grosses me out the most and I vow to become a vegetarian. We'll see. I also think if the neck bag is paper, it doesn't matter if you take it out first or not. But mine was in plastic, so you have to get that out. Ugh. I hate reaching into a giant dead turkey.

p.s. did you try Mr. Clean Magic Eraser for the furniture and walls?
