Help Save Military Marriages #MarriageOps and $20 Applebees Giveaway! *CLOSED!

**CLOSED! Winner posted here!

It was hard when Tom was gone for a year in Korea.

Getting back into the swing of things was rough in the beginning. Learning to share your home again can be difficult. And it’s not easy for the military person either. They were used to doing things their own way and suddenly it’s back to family life.

This was why I was happy to hear about The Art of Marriage Ops campaign. It can help the men and women who have defended their country strengthen their marriage. After all, it can be quite an adjustment when they return. Military divorces are unfortunately up 42%.

Check out The Art of Marriage Ops App. It gives five different date ideas to help a couple get back in the swing of things.

  1. I knew that it was hard on you for Tom to be away. I didn't think about how it would be when he came home, for either of you.

  2. I didn't think that coming home could be hard too, that definitely puts things in an all new perspective. That's a great app!

  3. Sounds like a good app. I have friends with husbands in the military and I know how hard it can be when they get back from deployment.

I would love to do the 3 + 1 date. The road trip date sounds like a blast.

  4. Thank you for sharing. My husband was deployed from 2005 to 2007 and still doesn't sleep well sharing a bed again after two years away. In some ways, coming home was harder for both of us than it was being apart.

My favorite date idea from the app is the 3+1.

  5. I never really considered how difficult it'd be for military family's to adjust to living together again. I think this is a great campaign!

  6. We are about to endure our first deployment. I can tell you though that even him going to Basic was bad enough. There is just so much in the way even his side of the family that we did not expect till it came to it. We moved with him to AIT and things were great but then its hard reintegrating fully at his first duty station. We have been here for a few months and still trying to adjust to life together again. Thank you for sharing and trying to help others!

  7. I worry about our pending deployment (after all it's coming quicker than we'd like to believe). It's sad that I do look around at the five families closest to me (Korea was our first duty station, and Riley is our second, and this will be all of our first deployments) and know that 2 of our families will NOT make it out of the deployment intact... and really... as bad as it sounds, I hope we're not the 2/5 that fall apart (not that you want it to happen to any of them).

  8. I love the road trip date idea. Sounds so fun.

  9. I have heard this from several friends who have been apart while deployed. It is truly a huge adjustment when the military spouse leaves and then again when they get back.

I would choose either the 3+1 or into the wild.

Sorry no twitter here, but I think this is great!

  10. Well, I will be lame-o and say I would like the 3 +1 date too. Just because I am different that way. I think you did a great job holding it all down when he was gone- you are a great inspiration to other wives going through the same thing.

  11. I'd want to do the cook off.

It was hard when my ex-fiancé came back from Iraq with PTSD. If ended up being an unsafe situation for md emotionally and physically, but it was even more frustrating to see the lack of support the VA gave to help him get re-centered.

  13. Our last deployment was before we had kids and it was difficult, I don't envy those readjusting with children.

    My favorite is the 3+1.

  14. I love the 3+1 idea...we travel a lot and actually met & had a long-distance relationship for years before we got married, so it would be perfect. What a great app!
