Things That Annoy Me Thursday: Celebrities Behaving Badly

So I’m sure most of you heard that Reese Witherspoon and her husband were arrested last weekend. (Read about it here in case you did not.)

Her husband was arrested for DUI. This bothers me a lot. He could have killed someone.

Reese was arrested for disorderly conduct. I guess she asked the police officer if he “knew her name.”

This also bothers me. I HATE when people do that. Does it MATTER who you are? If you break the law, you should be punished. I don’t care how much is in your bank account.

I hate how the law seems to be lax towards celebrities. They are never in jail for long due to overcrowding. Here’s an idea: maybe they should be shoved in the crowds, get beaten up a bit, and then, perhaps, they’ll learn their lesson. Stop babying them. Stop treating them like they do something fantastic.

They don’t.

They entertain us. Which, okay, is nice.

But the real people who should be fawned over such as military folks, nurses, doctors, teachers, regular policemen, firemen, etc…rarely receive any praise.

Stop catering to these so called celebrities. I also roll my eyes when I read that celebrities need certain things to perform. Only brown M&Ms. White furniture. Everyone has to greet them with “Your hotness.” STOP IT. They wouldn’t be performing if it weren’t for us. Tell them to knock off that nonsense. Stop giving in.

I was so glad to read that the police officer who arrested Reese didn’t care who she was. Kudos to him.

Now if more people would follow suit…

(And yes, I saw Reese apologized. But I can almost bet her “people” wrote the statement for her image. She claims she was worried for her husband—she should have been worried about the people he could have killed while driving drunk.)

  1. To be fair, I have said some stupid and regrettable things while drunk but seriously, they can't afford to get a driver when they know they will be drinking?

  2. UGH! I try to stay away from celebrity news because of that - the double standard that our law enforcement and judicial system has for celebrities vs. common folk is disgusting! I don't care if you're the president of the USA or the pope even - you do something wrong, you need to have the same punishments as everyone else. END. OF. STORY!
    {stepping off the soap box now...}

  3. I think that is why I try and avoid the news at all costs. If its not a celebrity being glorified for something stupid, they are getting away with what would land most of us in jail and yet those who are risking their lives every day and children are being hurt but nobody seems to care because Lindsay is back in rehab and Kim was insulted because of comments about her weight. Get over yourselves people....you're just people and do not deserve any more than anyone else.

  6. Our so-called "justice system" is supposed to be "blind" toward everything but "evidence". Yeah right - does anyone actually believe that????

  7. Here in Vegas it's celebrities all the time, everyone comes up from LA to party.
At least Mr. Adelson does something nice, he gives free weekend stays at the Venetian to troops returning from Afghanistan. All the employees used to show up in the main entrance hall to applaud the troops and their families arriving.

  9. Why did they even think it was OK to drive under the influence anyway? I don't care if you think it's just a buzz.... DON'T DRIVE EVEN WITH A BUZZ!!! And yes, I agree about treatment celebrities get. But you know what. Celebrities can afford the best lawyers to get them out of anything. Whereas, Drs, Nurses, policemen, firemen, army navy marines, they don't have enough money to afford the same kind of attorneys. That makes me incredibly sad.

  10. I agree with you.

Except for the Brown M&Ms. Because they just taste better.

    P.S.
Actually, I read once, some big music group used to put the green M&M clause in their contract to see how close venues paid attention; they figured if they let that slip, they may not set up the stage and pyrotechnics (fairly certain I spelled that wrong)correctly. The one time someone missed the Green M&Ms, sure enough, they set up the stage wrong and it could have collapsed in the middle of the concert.

Put throwing a fit over the wrong bottle water? Yeah, suck it up Princess.

  12. I agree totally! They are just people. They don't deserve any special treatment or different rules than the rest of us.

  13. It is annoying how they are treated differently than the rest of us. They should be held to the same standards as us regular people.

  15. Hi thank you for stopping by my blog and commenting!

your blog is very interesting! and i agree celebrities think they are better than others. they don't know how good they have it (although i can understand they get upset over they lack of privacy).

What kills me is that those child actors who grew up and royally messed up their lives because they just can't handle the glam and fame.... *shakes head*

  16. I just saw that today. I was gifted with an Us Weekly subscription and it's on the cover of the new one. Totally shocked me, but then I realized, I don't know her at all - I just assumed she was this perfect person. Certainly not. And what a disgraceful, dangerous thing her husband did.

  17. I was so disappointed when I read that because, like so many others, I thought Reese was one of those "down to earth" celebrities and more normal than the rest of them. I guess not.

  18. A-freakin-men! Celebrities think that they can get away with murder- and often do!

  19. AMEN! Very well said-- and yes just because they are "popular" does not mean they should be above the law

  20. So I hadn't even heard about the Reese thing until I read this. Than I got curious and googled it. I'm easily sidetracked I suppose. I think that it's bs that people should get to get away with things because of their name. Yes you'r an actor. It's a job. But so is a cashier and a landlord and a janitor. But we don't get any special priviledges for it. We just get to pay for a roof over our kids head and food in their mouths.
