Oh Yeah, He Cut His Hair

So I shared the post about being a senior with autism, and I got a ton of supportive comments. But I also got comments about Tommy's hair.

This is because it looks like this now:

And before, it looked like this:

I even did a blog post on why he insisted on long hair. Honestly, I didn't think he'd ever cut it and I was cool with it. I mean, it's his hair. But I did have to remind him to keep it brushed properly and he admitted that sometimes he got tired of the tangles. So he decided he'd get it cut. But he still wanted it on the longer side.

Actually, he showed the hair stylist a picture of Jim from The Office and said he wanted his hair cut like that. Season 1 Jim, I think.

The stylist asked if Tommy wanted to keep his long hair and he went "yes" at the same time I said "no."

We got the hair.

And here's Tommy doing a Jim "can you believe what I have to put up with?" Halpert from The Office look.

With his new hair!

He says it's much easier to brush through, but he also admits he misses the longer hair. I think it's because he would tug on it when he got nervous. As many of you know, he has autism, so he has certain tics to calm himself down. One of those was tugging on the long hair.

However, for now he says he'll keep this hair and in a few months he'll let me know if he wants it cut.

I guess we'll see how it'll be. I'm just along for the ride.

  15. His hair looks great either way. But I think he looks grown up with shorter hair. I know that I personally go through phases where I like my hair to be super long and then I chop it all off. I'm debating on it right now too. It's long and it gets tangled easily because I can't keep my hair from falling out in huge clumps thanks to my medication. Whenever I cut it off, I typically donate my hair and I have to have at least 12 inches to give up. I'm getting close. A little over two years ago, I cut off 15 inches and it was so freeing and easier to style. Growing up I have always been tender-headed, so when it gets too long, it tends to tangle more. Then it hurts when I brush my hair, unless I use a spray in conditioner.

  16. I love his haircut. My son is 12 and is on the spectrum. He is the opposite and loves it to be clean cut all the time. When he was younger he told us haircuts hurt!

  36. I think it's great that hair can be an easy outlet for self expression in teens and tweens - and as you said- it's his hair. He'll always look back and remember the time his hair was that long. Thanks for sharing his journey.

  39. satta king When you consider buying rental properties, consider a strong property manager that can find good tenants. Applicants should have a good credit history since you are Play Bazar going to be relying on rental income to pay the bills. You might lose money if you do not do this.
