Easy Unicorn Hot Chocolate

"Mommy! Unicorn hot chocolate EXISTS!" my daughter Natalie shrieked at me. She practically shoved her iPad up my nose. "See? See? See?"

Apparently a cafe called Creme and Sugar makes it. Unfortunately it's in California, so I knew we probably wouldn't be able to make it out there anytime soon.

Natalie really wanted some, so I figured I could try it out. Obviously it wouldn't be as fancy as that one, but it would come pretty close.

My daughter loved it! She showed her friends and they all wanted some too.

Here's how you can make it!

INGREDIENTS

--A white hot chocolate packet

--food coloring

--whipped cream

--sprinkles

--colored marshmallows

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Heat up 6 oz of water. (Or whatever your white hot chocolate package says. I used this one.) I heat up my water in the microwave by putting it in for 3 minutes.

2. Dump the contents of the packet in the hot water. Stir. Add 3 drops of red food dye. (It'll turn pink.) If you prefer another color, use that, but my daughter is all about the pink. Stir again. Obviously if you want a more intense color, use more drops. Ours looked like this:

3. Add whipped cream. Then add the sprinkles. I bought a variety for added fun.

4. Place colorful marshmallows on top if desired!

It really is simple. You could do it the old fashioned way over the stovetop with milk, but my daughter has always been fine with water. I'm all about the easy. The less steps, the better. The cheaper, the better. That's my kitchen motto.

Will you be making unicorn hot chocolate?
