Day 3 on the Galactic Starcruiser.
I woke and looked around the room. I knew I'd miss it. I'd miss everything: the adventures, the characters, the way the cast members would say "my honor" if you asked them for anything.
Imagination has always been significant to me. It's why I tell my kids that having an imagination is more important than perfect grades. Straight As are nothing if it means you're a dull person. But if you can walk into a room and picture a completely different world, well, that's brilliant in my eyes. And my kids? They both have wonderful imaginations. They've never had straight As, but they can morph into another world in an instant.
That's what the Galactic Starcruiser is: a wonderful place for imagination. A beautiful adventure for those of us creatives who were told we could be better students if we stopped daydreaming.
You get another all you can eat breakfast on Day 3. They want you off the Starcruiser by 10 AM. In the itinerary there will be set times where they'd like you to disembark but you don't have to follow it. Ours said 8 and there was no way. We had a teen girl amongst us who is on her own time. She could be ready by 10. 8? No.
The food is delicious as always. And of course I got my Diet Coke:
And Pog juice. Lots of Pog juice.
We took our time as we ate. It was around 8 and as I mentioned, we had until 10 to leave. The food, as always, was intriguing. The kids had their last taste of unlimited blue and green milk. I gazed around the room and did my best to remember it all. There. That was where Chewbacca had run in on the first night to escape the First Order. There was the stage where Gaya sang with Ouanni jamming behind her.
It was where Natalie had laid eyes on Raithe Kole, who was a scoundrel and reminded us of Han Solo.
Maybe one day we'll be back. Maybe. But with it being so expensive, it's hard to know. But if we could, we'd return. Perhaps I'd help the First Order the second time around. Tommy said he thinks he could switch and be good even though being good isn't as exciting. Natalie said it depended on how hot the resistance people were: if they were as good looking as they were this time, she'd stay on that side.
After we ate I made arrangements for us to be taken to our Disney Resort. (Port Orleans Riverside.) You get free transportation off the Halycon if you didn't bring your own vehicle. My Mom was going with my Aunt and Uncle who live in Florida. We got a voucher for a Mears taxi and was told to hand it to the people when we returned on land.
We were basically already packed. We took one last look at the room and headed out. Staring at the Atrium I thought of all the excitement that took place there. The First Order boarding the ship. Battles. The resistance refusing to go down without a fight.
I pushed the button for the pod that would take us back to Earth. I looked over my shoulder. Smiled because we had so many memories. The kids didn't want to go. But it was time.
When you step back onto Earth there's a small shop set up with souvenirs. If you wanted, they would take care of your luggage and already have it waiting for you, but we decided to keep ours with us. I handed my voucher to a cast member and they called a taxi for us.
The adventure might have been over. But I knew we'd always think back to our time on the Halycon. Of the pod that took us up to the ship.
We were only outside about ten minutes and were told a taxi was ready for us.
"Already?" I answered, surprised. I looked around where we had come in full of excitement two days prior. I agreed with the kids: I didn't want to leave. But we had to. Another adventure awaited.
"Thank you," I told the cast member and I smiled when he said, "My honor," as he shut the taxi door.
So long, Galactic Starcruiser! We had some great times together, didn't we? We'll never forget the memories we made onboard your majestic ship. Thanks for everything!

ReplyDeleteA mesh is "over-refined" when the whole variety of triangles of the STL mesh is bigger than required. This won't lead to any errors during 3D printing, but it'll unnecessarily increase the dimensions of the STL Double Bottle Warmer file, making it tougher to handle. Usually, the tiny details which are be} represented by an over-refined mesh can't be 3D printed, as they exceed the capabilities of most methods .
