Hey, It's Okay

I got this idea from Glamour magazine. You can link up any day of the week. All you have to do is make a list of what you're okay about. Simple! Please do not link up a post that has nothing to do with Hey, It's Okay. It's rude and I'll delete the link.

HEY, IT'S OKAY....

.....to be going to see Natalie's final performances of the school year at the end of the week. She's in her theatre class play Everyone Gets Eaten By Sharks (A Cautionary Tale) and she's in the Senior Directed One Act Play called Trifles.

.....to be excited for the movie If. It looks really cute.

....to have a Mother's Day gift guide if you need to figure out some presents for Mom or the lady who raised you!

.....to wish I could grow pretty flowers but I know I do not have the patience. So we appreciate everyone else's, included my mother's flowers in her backyard:

Things We're Doing In Los Angeles

In early June, we're headed to Los Angeles!

I was there years ago. I'm talking years and years ago. I was under 10, so I barely remember it. My kids have never been.

Normally we always head to Walt Disney World in the summer. This time, we wanted a change so we decided to visit Disneyland

We're also headed next door to California Adventure, which is kind of like Hollywood Studios in Florida. In California, the parks are right next to each other, so it makes it convenient. We'll be making a stop at Downtown Disney as well.

I purchased tickets to the nighttime show Wonder Of Color Dessert Party, so that'll be fun. We love desserts, and we get to sit after a long day of walking since we have reserved seating.

We're spending 3 days at the parks. We have another day where we'll be exploring Los Angeles and we're trying to cram in as much as we can.

First up is the Warner Bros Studio Tour in Burbank. So many shows & movies have been filmed on the lot. Our absolute favorite is Gilmore Girls. We cannot wait to see where the show was shot. You can actually walk around Stars Hollow. Friends was also filmed there! With the Studio Tour, we get to ride on a trolley and be shown around different spots where famous scenes were filmed.

After that, there's a cemetery called Forest Lawn right across the street where Matthew Perry who played Chandler on Friends is buried, so we'd like to pay our respects.

In that same area there's a restaurant called Smokehouse that was built in 1946. Old Hollywood stars would visit often, and movies & shows filmed inside. Most notably, La La Land, which Natalie is obsessed with. We'll have a meal there and take a Lyft to Griffith Park Observatory which is free and is another popular filming spot. (Yup, again La La Land also had scenes shot there.)

If we have time, we'll do Hollywood Blvd because Natalie wants to see Marilyn Monroe's star and signature in the cement.

It'll be a full trip, that's for sure, and we cannot wait. Naturally I will be sharing all about it here and my social media accounts.

Have you ever been to Los Angeles?

So Many Vintage Looks From Unique Vintage

Vintage is in.

My daughter has always been into the vintage styles and has some in her closet that she'll randomly put on.

Unique Vintage is a store that has fabulous choices from different eras. You'll find dresses. Shoes. Tops. Skirts. Swim. Pants. Plus so much more!

Even better, they'll have sales, and that's when we shop. They range from sizes XS to 5X.

This particular dress was only $30!

Even better? There's POCKETS:

The dress reminded us of something you'd see from the 50s or 60s. Natalie paired it with some of her butterfly clips:

If you sign up for their mailing list and text alerts, you'll be the first to know about sales:

If you have a special occasion coming up, you'll certainly be unique with a choice from Unique Vintage. Who wants to look like everyone else?

Roses in my Mom's yard matched the one on the dress:

Have you checked out Unique Vintage yet?

HEY, IT'S OKAY....

......to be happy for all those excited about Taylor Swift's new album. I like her music and she seems like a kind person, I've just never been a super fan.

.....to be bringing in my vehicle tomorrow to fix some recalls. Oh, and getting tires rotated, because it's been a while and my husband was appalled when he found out. And get the air filter clean, because last time they told me it was looking kinda rough.

....to be excited for our upcoming Los Angeles trip in June! Well, technically it's Anaheim since we'll mostly be at Disneyland, but one day we'll explore as much of LA as we can.

.....to be glad Plops came back home. See, he's a feral/indoor cat. He lived on the streets and sort of adopted us. He'll go out and in and normally always comes in at night. But he never showed so I started to worry. Days went by and I REALLY started to worry. And then he just showed up! He had never done that before, so I was thrilled he was okay.

Affordable Mother's Day Gift Guide

Mother's Day is approaching! If you're stumped on what to get Mom, I have ideas. None of these picks are horribly expensive, because, well, everything seems to be expensive these days. And if you do not have a good relationship with your mom, I'm so sorry. I can't imagine. If you have a guardian instead of a mother, I hope she's a good one to you. If you have two great mothers, cherish them both.

Here are some ideas:

If Mom is a Tangled fan, consider this ring inspired from the movie at Luvloom. There's also a Barbie & Stitch collection. There's a 50% off sale going on now!

If you have a Kneader's Bakery nearby, check out their cookies! You can pick up a bunch of these sugar cookies for Mom:

Bicycle always has unique cards available. If the mom in your life has a specific person or character they enjoy, check them out:

Books are exciting for the reader! I certainly am, so I am always happy to get books. I recently finished The Teacher by Freida McFadden which is about It’s about Erin and Nate, who are teachers at a High School. Erin and Nate’s marriage isn’t in the best place. Addie is a student who begins spending time with Nate. Erin isn’t a fan of Addie because of a scandal that happened the previous year. Will there be another scandal?

Perfume is always a nice pick. Find out what Mom's favorite scent is and get her a bottle. We enjoy this Flowerbomb Tiger Lily one from Viktor & Rolf. You can purchase it at Sephora.

If you have a Mom who does not want stuff, apples from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory is a good choice. They have a variety of different apples, all under $20. I personally love the chocolate ones.

Zak has a wonderful line of water bottles if Mom needs a new one. This is the Harmony Bottle, made from 75% recycled material, so you can feel good about the purchase. If this isn't the color or style you like, there are many others on the website. Plus, use code AIRINGMYLAUNDRY15 to save 15%!

If you're on a budget and Mom loves Gilmore Girls, check out the dollar spot at Target! I found this mug for either $3 or $5. I can't quite recall.

Likewise, if Mom loves reality TV as I do, this was also at the Target dollar spot for $3!

Hopefully you can find something here that will work for your Mom or the special lady in your life. Which is your top pick?

Eating A Ton At The Seven Seas Food Festival At SeaWorld

We always love food festivals! It's always fun to sample different foods from various parts of the world. SeaWorld always has a Seven Seas Food Festival and we look forward to going every year. There's food and drinks for 10 different countries with over 100 offerings. We normally go for the food though. I've never been a big drinker, but many people show up for the booze.

One of our favorite stops is Mexico. They have delicious tacos, sopapillas, and street corn.

Here's the menu:

Allow me to do an ode to the street corn.

Oh, corn!

How I love thee!

Your crunch, your flavors...

Make happiness exude from me!

So, fine, it's not that great, but trust me, try this corn, or it's real name is Fried Elote Con Queso. It's fried corn with mayo, queso, cotija, lime, and coriander.

We also got the Shredded Braised Beef street taco, and it was incredible, as it always is. It has shreded braised beef, queso fresco, pickled red onion, radish, serrano pepper, and micro cilantro:

Plus the Chicken Carnitas With Grilled Corn Salsa Street Taco:

Then we wandered over to France, which is another fave.

We absolutely LOVE the banana & strawberry hazelnut crepe. It's made so well, with a dollop of whipped cream:

I do not like mushrooms. It's fungus. But the kids are fans, so I also ordered the mushroom, spinach, and swiss. They said it was tasty and the mushroom didn't taste canned. If they were, the flavor was masked well, because they gobbled everything up:

We also tried the Ham & Herbed Cream Cheese crepe, and I found it to be savory with a nice flavor. The hazelnut is still my fave though!

We stopped off at Germany next, and there's always a fun photo area:

I realized I forgot to take a picture of the menu, but this is the schnitzel sandwich, and it was superb. The bun tasted fresh and I was a fan of the sauce:

The braised beef goulash was amazing as well:

Finally, we stopped off at Hawaii. Mind you, there were many other booths we skipped, but we were getting full, so we wanted to be sure to hit our faves.

We got the Hawaiian Macaroni Salad with Spam. This was the only dish of the day that I wasn't impressed with. There was just way too much going on. There was macaroni, spam, pineapple, edamame, carrot, green onions, and garlic aioli:

However, the Hula Dog is a winner! It's made on a Hawaiian sweet roll, smoked sausage, sweet cabbage slaw, red chili aioli, and furicake seasoning:

We always get the salmon poke bowl. There are various flavors like spicy tuna, spicy tofu, and teriyaki spam. These are always made well, so I highly recommend them!

At this point, we were incredibly full, so we decided to call it a day. We'll return though. The Seven Seas Food Festival at SeaWorld goes on until May 27th on select days so we'll have plenty of time.

What looks the best to you here?

HEY, IT'S OKAY....

.....to be proud of Natalie for singing an Italian song for her recital. She started singing lessons last summer and has different recitals throughout the year. This one is in a whole different language in front of judges. She says she wants to vomit.

.....to have gone to see Tommy for lunch over the weekend. I'm always glad when we can visit with him. He's nearly done with the semester.

......to want to start watched One Day on Netflix, but I read the book and I know what an emotional roller coaster it is and that I will cry.

.....to have seen this sign in Michaels and agreed with it. I just love macarons. I wish they weren't so dang expensive. I could make them myself but holy crap, they are complicated to make. Hence why they are so expensive. So they are a treat I get once in a blue moon.

Finding The Selena Chair At The Majestic Theatre

Basically everyone knows about Selena.

She was this gorgeous singer who was murdered by Yolanda, who was stealing money from the clothing boutiques she ran. Selena confronted her and was shot. She was only 23.

Before she died, she did a photoshoot at the Majestic Theatre. We go there often to watch shows. Natalie wanted to find the area where the photoshoot took place.

We think we found it.

Here's one picture of Selena shot by John Dyer.

And here's where we think it was:

It is a pretty room! We wanted to stay and explore longer, but by then it was the end of the show and the ushers wanted everyone OUT. Which I do not blame them. They wanted to go home.

We think when she sat down in the chair that it was pulled in here in that corner:

Here's the chair shot:

The chair is actually outside of the room but it might be the same one ? I mean, it's been many years, but you never know. Just in case, Natalie made sure to sit in it:

We're so sorry what happened to Selena but we hope she knows that she's still inspiring people to this day.
