Hey, It's Okay

I got this idea from Glamour magazine. You can link up any day of the week. All you have to do is make a list of what you're okay about. Simple! Please do not link up a post that has nothing to do with Hey, It's Okay. It's rude and I'll delete the link.

HEY, IT'S OKAY....

......to have enjoyed Jodi Picoult's latest book By Any Other Name. It hints that Shakespeare didn't write all his famous works on his own. That perhaps a woman wrote many of them. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised. There were already rumors that certain men really wrote some of his plays. I wouldn't be surprised if women did as well. Read the book!

.....to be excited to start watching Halloween movies now. We always watch Hocus Pocus and Beetlejuice. Plus others!

.....to have enjoyed the new show Matlock starring Kathy Bates. It had a fun twist at the end. You can catch the show on Paramount + if you missed it or catch it on CBS.

.....to not be surprised that stores already have Christmas stuff out.  It's still 90 degrees here and many stores already have holiday decor for sale. But honestly, it's fun to check out.

We Had To Get A New Car

Remember when I wrote about the car accident?

Well, it turns out the car was deemed totaled. Something about the framing and the roof. I don't know. I don't really speak car. I just know that I called the shop where it was at after I saw the notice from my insurance and pleaded with them to just fix my car.

That's when the guy said it wasn't possible.

I wanted to cry.

Actually, I did cry. I loved my car. It was a beautiful 2020 Honda Insight with leather seats and a push start.

And I had to say goodbye.

I went to gather all my stuff from it. There wasn't much because I didn't treat her like a trash can. I treated her with respect.

It sucked walking away from that car. I truly loved it.

My insurance paid out what it was worth. Obviously it was a 2020 so I didn't get what I paid for the car which means I couldn't get a new one. Actually, I couldn't get a new one because they stopped making Honda Insights in 2022.

Now, I love Hondas, but the ones I liked were out of my price range. I did not want any car payments. My Insight was all paid off.

The Hondas I liked, well, I couldn't afford. So I went with Toyota. I had a 1998 Toyota Corolla back in the day that was nice. Dependable.

Going to the dealership is always an adventure. I know the dealers have a job, but honestly, the whole act gives me a headache.

At the dealership I always think of that song that Fiona sings in Shrek: The Musical. "And the waiting, the waiting, the waiting.."

I wrote about how to buy a car before. Basically, hold your ground. Stick with your price range and never, ever take the first offer.

Make them work for your business.

Odds are, they won't want you to walk away, especially if you've already spent hours there. Time is money.

I sent the dealer back 3 times without guilt. No, if I'm spending a crap ton of money, I'm getting what I want.

Finally, we agreed on a price and here's my car:

She's a 2024 Toyota Corolla. LE edition.

Nothing terribly fancy. No more leather seats.

No more push start.

No more remote start. I have a key again which let me tell you, is something I've had to get used to. I keep going to push and then remember, oh yeah, I don't have that car anymore.

But it's okay. The Corolla is pretty and works well. However, I will always miss my Honda Insight.

And the bottom line?

No car payments.

The Peach Cobbler Factory Review

I have a sweet tooth, so I was thrilled when The Peach Cobbler Factory opened nearby.

As the name suggests, yes, they have peach cobbler.

But that's not the only flavor they have. There's also honey apple, blackberry peach, strawberry, cherry..and so many more! There are 12 kinds of cobbler.

If you aren't into cobblers, well, you're in luck, because they also have brownies, churros, cookies, Belgian waffles..seriously, everyone will find something they enjoy.

When walking inside, you're hit with the scent of cinnamon and apple. Plus orange is their color because, you know, peaches.

There are spots to sit if you want to eat your treat right away:

Plus there's a wall to take snap pics:

So what did I get?

The Peach Cobbler, of course! I had to get what they were known for. Each cobbler comes warmed and with vanilla ice cream. I got mine to go, so my ice cream arrived on the side, which was perfect, because who wants melted ice cream everywhere?

The peaches had a delicious taste, and the breading was crumbly and meshed well with everything. The ice cream gave it a perfect *chef's kiss*

I also had to try the carnival cookie which was a sugar cookie with buttercream frosting and sprinkles on top. First of all, it was HUGE. Bigger than my mind! Second, it was soft and scrumptious.

I'd get both again.

Yes, they did a military discount as well.

I will have to return because there is so many items I need to try. (The brownies also look fantastic!)

Here's the full menu if you're curious:

Have you ever been to The Peach Cobbler Factory?

HEY, IT'S OKAY....

.....to hope Natalie and her boyfriend have fun at the Hozier concert this week. I'm not as familiar with their music, but from what I have heard, it's not bad.

.....to have pulled out the indoor Halloween decor and set it up. I still need to get the outdoor stuff which will eventually happen.

.....to be excited for the new Wicked movie even though Ariana Grande irritates me. I'll just have to really pretend that it's not her on the screen.

.....to have watched The Secret Lives Of Mormon Wives on Hulu and been amused. If you like Real Housewives, you'll like that show. Lots of yelling.

.....to need Texas to get on board with Fall weather since it's officially fall now. But it's still in the 90s. Stop it.  I want to get cozy in sweatshirts and hoodies.

Seeing The Stars Hollow Gilmore Girls Town

When we rounded the corner in the golf cart on our WB Studio Tour and I saw the town, I gasped.

Stars Hollow.

The fictional town I had seen on television for years. And I was there

I admit, tears prickled my eyes because it was all just so surreal. I could hear the famous la-la-las in my head.

I've been a fan of Gilmore Girls for years, ever since the show first came out on the WB Network. I watched again when my daughter was a baby and refused to sleep. She'd be on my lap and I'd be like, "That's Lorelai. We love her. That's Luke. We want them to get together. Max is sweet but isn't right for Lorelai." I'd also urge her to be Team Jess.

And lucky me, she's 17 now and loves the show as I do. So when I peeked over as we rolled into Stars Hollow, I wasn't surprised to see her emotional as well.

The famous gazebo came into view.

I knew who the houses in the background belonged to. Lane Kim's. Sookie's. Scenes from the show played in my head. All the different festivals. All the times the town was decorated for the holidays. Fall. Winter. Spring.

A thousand yellow daisies.

We passed by Stars Hollow High, Rory's former school before she went to Chilton.

There was the church were Luke and Lorelai destroyed the bells. Oh, and there was where the town loner protested and no one quite figured out what he was shouting.

"Stop the Noodle Scooze!" is what Lorelai thought he shouted from the window at the top.

There was Gypsy's mechanic spot where she'd crush dreams and say how bad of shape your vehicle was in:

Yes, we got to walk around a bit. Before the tour began our guide was like, "The rules are to stay with me and not to run off."

I laughed and said, "Who would run off?" but I understood when we got to Stars Hollow. I wanted to run off and stand close to the buildings I had grown up with.

WE WERE IN STARS HOLLOW!

Why weren't more people thrilled about this? I mean, look at the people in the background. They look....dare I say...BORED? But how?

We walked over to Sookie's house and were told what all true Gilmore Girl's fans already know. That behind the house is Lorelai's. That walking through Sookie's garage leads you to Lorelai's. Duh.

As Natalie and I walked through the garage we were shaking with excitement. The other people in our group didn't seem as excited. Why? WHY? They were WALKING TO LORELAI'S GARAGE! My God man, that's a BIG DEAL.

Everyone else rushed through the garage but Natalie and I lingered, taking it all in.

I mean, Lane's band Hep Alien practiced in the garage.

Luke's boat was kept in the garage.

Lorelai painted the garage when she and Luke broke up.

And yes, there is a remnant of that:

We got to see Lorelai's house. Now, most of the inside was filmed on a sound stage, but there have been scenes shot out front.

Like when Luke made her an ice skating rink.

When Rory cried after sleeping with Dean. (Ugh, bad, bad, bad.)

We would have stayed longer, but we had to follow our guide, because you know, the rules, but honestly, Natalie and I wanted to linger and act out different scenes. Ahh, well.

We followed our guide into Kim's Antiques, AKA Lane's house:

Here's Lane's house, undressed, and it also was in that prom scene in Friends.

Remember how Ross played the piano on these stairs?

And in Gilmore Girls, Lane went up the stairs in that dress with the giant bow and went up backwards so Dave couldn't see it.

We took a picture in front of them. Many memories. Tommy watches Friends, so he recognized the stairs. He doesn't watch Gilmore Girls, but is a film maker so he loved the tour because it taught him more about the process of making shows and movies.

Finally, we got to see Luke's Diner and trust me, I wished we could go in but I think it was being used to film something so we couldn't. I was sad. The things Natalie and I could have acted out! We only drove by it and I was itching to hop out and hug a column.

We would have spent hours in Stars Hollow but sadly, we were out pretty quickly. This is why we need to go back. They dress up the town for the holidays and it would be a dream for us to go.

And yes, there is Gilmore Girls merch for sale in the store and we bought a few things:

Scott Patterson, who plays Luke Danes, has his own Gilmore Girls inspired coffee line called Scotty P's Big Mug Coffee with three different roasts: medium, dark and light. If you can't get the store, call 888-702-7873 and place your order.

This jacket was the cutest and look, there's Paul Anka! Seriously, the store can make a Gilmore Girls fan go broke:

If you want to visit Stars Hollow, book a WB Studio Tour. You won't be sorry. And if Gilmore Girls isn't your thing, you'll learn about other shows and movies. My son hadn't a clue what Stars Hollow was and still enjoyed himself.

"Mom?"

"Yeah?"

"I'm pregnant."

Those words happened on the gazebo stairs, guys.

Have you ever seen Gilmore Girls? If not, great news! It's on Netflix. Go watch and let me know what you think.

And if you look at this town and think Pretty Little Liars, leave.

Crocs Happy Meal At McDonalds

I'll be honest, I rarely wear Crocs.

My daughter has 2 pairs, and I'll sometimes slip them on if I need to take the trash out, but they've really appealed to me.

I also have flat feet so walking around in Crocs would certainly make me ache.

However.

I found myself drawn to the Crocs McDonald's has in their Happy Meals. Maybe because they're McDonald's themed, and I am a huge fan of McDonald's. I know people are like, ew unhealthy, ew, do you know what's IN their food? To which I reply, as I stick one of their delicious fries in my mouth: "I do not care." And then I grab their crisp Diet Coke and wash the fry down.

Anyway.

Yes, this week McDonald's has released mini Croc Happy Meal toys. You can collect them all and they clip on your bag.

Even better? My Happy Meal was FREE because I have the app and have earned enough points.

The Croc comes wrapped up so it makes it seem like you have a little gift. Plus there's stickers! You can stick them on the Croc or annoy someone and secretly put them on their back.

Here's all the different styles of Crocs:

And people are taking it seriously collecting these. I notice in my local groups that they're asking what style certain stores are passing out. Me? I'll probably just have the one.

So which style did I get?

I like it! It's made well and isn't flimsy, which is good, because I can be rather violent as I carry my bag at times. I also get caught in doors and such. I don't know how it happens, but it does.

Here is my Croc clicked to my bag. It shares a spot with Anxiety.

As you see it's a nice size. If you're a Croc lover or just like McDonald's like me, these are pretty dang cute.

Have you gotten one yet?

.....to love my Gilmore Girls advent calendar--perfect for Gilmore Girls fans, you'll get 25 days of GG themed gifts. Right now it's 50% off here

.....to have had to buy a new car because the one in the accident was deemed totaled. I am incredibly sad as I loved that car, but I now own a Toyota Corolla, and it's pretty awesome too.

.....to have gone to Howl-O-Scream at Sea World to check out some of the haunted houses and terror-tories. I'll be returning soon because it's always a fun time!
