Easy Halloween Monster Fruit Cups

 I love easy.

Especially when it deals with food.

I know some parents love making elaborate snacks for their kids. And while I admire those snacks, I know I'll probably never, ever make them. I just don't have the patience, nor do I get any pleasure from making a sandwich into a fish/fairy/dog.

I do like to amuse my kids, so I knew they'd like these monster cups.

Do they look Pinterest worthy? Probably not. I mean, the crafty moms can probably make them look fancier, and that's great, but again, I'm all about quick and easy.

All you need are grapes, marshmallows, clear cups, and a sharpie.

You put grapes on the bottom of the cup:

Then you add marshmallows in the middle and add more grapes on top:

Draw a face! Make whatever kind you want.

Hand over to your kids! My daughter was like, "These are cute, but you didn't do that great with the face."

No, I didn't, but oh well. You get the gist of what I as going for. A monster. Yay.

So if you're looking for something simple, try these Halloween Fruit Cups. Perfect for parties. Kids can decorate their own cups and will most likely do a better job than I did.

Natalie Kicking Butt In An Incredibles Costume From Wholesale Halloween Costumes!

**I was given a costume to review. I was not paid for this post. My opinions are my own.**

Natalie loves princesses.

But she also loves superheroes.

She's a fan Disney's The Incredibles. So when I was given the opportunity to review something from Wholesale Halloween Costumes I picked out a costume from The Incredibles even though they had tons of other girls costumes to choose from (including stuff from Frozen!)

Natalie loved it! She immediately put it on. It came with the bodysuit and the mask. She said it wasn't itchy, which is a Big Deal.

She actually ended up sleeping in it.

"I'm going to get all the bad guys!"

Don't mess with Natalie. She says she'll kick your butt.

If you want your own Incredible costume, you can purchase it here.

Wholesale Halloween Costumes has a wide variety of costumes to purchase. From adult costumes to props and decorations, the website has it all. You can even buy stuff for your pets!

So if you're looking for a costume, check out Wholesale Halloween Costumes!

Looking forward to the movie Maleficent? You can buy a bunch of stuff from that on the site here. My daughter wants ALL the Aurora costumes....

A Butterfly and a Creepy Guy

I found a butterfly in my yard the other day.

Oh, hello! It's Natalie the Butterfly.

Ahem. Excuse me. (BANG!)

I just ran into the house. She's amused.

This is what she's going to be for Halloween. It's not one of her many dress up outfits. I bought the costume last year at Gymboree for a fantastic deal.

Natalie did NOT want to take the costume off.

"Can't I just keep wearing this?"

"No. You can have it for good AFTER Halloween. I know you. You'll roll around in the mud while wearing it and insist that you're a muddy butterfly."

"I'm a SILLY butterfly!"

And then I made farting sounds to get her to smile:

Then this creature showed up:

(Getting him to take a picture was not easy. "NOW what do you want from me?" he bellowed when I asked him to come over.)

Added bonus? The eyes light up!

I think Tommy's Halloween days are numbered. And he's fine with that because he's not a fan of much candy anyway.

Naturally I get to pick out the Reeses Peanut Butter Cups after we go trick or treating. It's my payment for taking them around the neighborhood you see.

Only fair.

Natalie's Halloween Costume

Guess who Natalie is going to be for Halloween?

Naturally.

A Disney Princess. Merida from the movie Brave.

Guess what doesn’t work?

No matter what I do, the wig looks frightening.

Plus, Natalie says it itches her “real hairs.”

So. I decided to whip out my sewing machine and come up with something.

Kidding.

I don’t sew. Or knit. Or, you know, CRAFT in general.

But that’s what Etsy is for, right? You can PAY someone to do the crafty stuff. So I did that. I typed in Merida hair and came across something that I thought would work.

Something that hopefully won't itch Natalie's "real hairs."

I will share that next week!

(Tommy is going as Boba Fett. I think I spelled that right this time. In another post I wrote Bobba Fett and all the Star Wars junkies were like, “Nooo! Wrong! Bad!” Sorry guys. Anyway, his photo will come soon.)

Inside Natalie's Closet: Halloween Costume!

It’s no secret that I love buying my children clothes. So occasionally I’ll do an entry where I show pictures of their latest outfit.

Today I’m showing Natalie’s Halloween costume.

She’s a Peacock Princess!

The costume is from Gymboree.

Aren’t the wings fabulous?

I asked Natalie what she thought of Jennifer Lopez becoming a judge on American Idol. She’s all, “Huh?”

Then I asked what she thought of chicken nuggets and she got happy again. The girl lives off of chicken nuggets. I’m surprised she hasn’t turned into a giant piece of chicken.

She did some poses.

And then was all, “Can I turn on the hose?”

I was all, “Sure, if you want me to spin you around my head by your ankles shouting curse words.”

Natalie was like, “Um?”

Then she continued, “You can’t do dat to me.”

I said, “I actually can and will. So don’t get me wet. I’m wearing my good Mudd jeans.”

Thankfully she made the right choice and backed away from the hose.

She actually started to run around the yard going, “I’m a peacock princess.” Only she left out the “pea” part so you can imagine what the neighbors must have thought.

Anyway.

She sort of blends in with my car.

Sweet.

On Halloween Day....

“Trick or treat, smell my feet, give me something good to eat! If you don’t, I don’t care, I’ll pull down my underwear!” Tommy sang.

“You better not say that tonight,” I warned. “And plus, exposing yourself is against the law. I think Pee Wee even got arrested for it."

It was Halloween and Tommy was obviously excited over the prospect of going trick or treating. Every few minutes he’d ask me if it was almost time to go.

“Now Mommy?” he’d wonder.

“You still have five hours to go.”

“Now?”

“You still have four hours and fifty five minutes to go.”

“How about now?”

“Four hours and fifty minutes.”

It was starting to get a little aggravating to be honest. A part of me wanted to shriek, “Never okay! We’re never going trick or treating!” But I didn’t. I swallowed my frustration down and when Tommy asked me again if it was almost time I said through gritted teeth, “Four hours and thirty minutes..”

When it was finally time to go, I insisted on taking pictures.

“Mommy! Batman doesn’t have time for this,” Tommy moaned.

After the pictures, I put Natalie in the stroller. I did this because she tends to get tired after walking for a bit and she’ll suddenly stop, cross her arms over her chest and proclaim that she’s “all done.” She refuses to budge after this. If she’s feeling especially stubborn, she’ll collapse dramatically on the ground. She’s done this once at the mall and I had this old lady ask if she needed to call 911.

Tom’s Mom, who was visiting us a few days stayed back to pass out candy. Tom had to work of course. He seems to always have to work on Halloween.

I had planned on just taking the kids around the block because A) it was cold, B) it was cold and oh right, C) it was COLD. I don’t deal well with the cold. Plus there was still snow on the ground from our big snowstorm and a lot of it still blocked the sidewalks.

So we started ringing doorbells and after the fifth door Natalie said, “I’m all done.” Then she got out of her stroller and started walking towards the direction of the house. The only reason why she ran back over to me was because there was a boy in a monster costume that freaked her out. She threw her arms around my waist and pressed her face into my stomach. “I’m all done,” she said again. “I cold. I go home.”

Tommy stomped his foot. “I’m NOT cold. I don’t WANT to go home!”

I suppose I could have dropped Natalie off with her Grandma. But quite frankly, I didn’t want to have to walk all the way back home. I’m lazy like that. So I dug through Natalie’s candy and pulled out a lollipop. I checked to make sure it wasn’t diseased or poisoned and then I handed it over.

“You eat this. Okay?” I said. Look, I’m not above bribes. I admit that when I go to Target, I usually let Natalie pick something out from the dollar spot so she’ll allow me to shop in peace. I’ll fork over a buck if I get some silence. I know Supernanny would faint but then again, what does she know? She doesn’t have kids. She gets to shop in peace whenever she wants.

Natalie was content with the lollipop. We went to more houses. I had to plow through snow with the stroller. This didn’t always work out so well. I thought I could get through this mound of snow but I was wrong. The wheels got caught on it and Natalie nearly went tumbling out into the snow.

“MOMMY!” she snapped, all insulted.

“Blame the snow!” I retorted.

I definitely got a work out.

Which was a good thing because when we got home, I totally raided the kid’s candy.

“What are you doing?” Tommy demanded as I combed through it. I immediately started setting aside the Reeses Peanut Butter Cups.

“Making sure your candy is safe. This doesn’t look right,” I said, as I moved a Milky Way over to my pile.

“That’s mine!” Tommy argued, grabbing a peanut butter cup. The thing is, he doesn’t fully appreciate it. If you eat a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup, you have to really love it. Tommy just chews it like it’s an apple or something. He doesn’t savor it like I do.

“Tommy,” I explained. “I get the Peanut Butter Cups.”

Tommy frowned, still hugging one to his chest. “Why?”

I thought quickly. “Because I created you. Therefore, I have dibs on the peanut butter cups.”

Tommy cocked his head to the side, contemplating this. I suppose he figured it was a good enough reason because he handed the candy over. “Okay,” he said reluctantly. “But only because you created me.”

Ha.

This is what I set aside for me:

Yum.

Is it sad that I’ve already eaten it all? (Plus a few extras that I've swiped..)
